But there aren't really very many posts attacking either of those players.
this thread is full of defensive posts without any actual aggressive posts to begin with.

quit being so defensive of your favorite players everybody, getting to be a damned complex around here
This.

The Baertschi fanboys are getting annoying. Nobody here wants him to fail. Personally, I think he's up against it though. One thing's for sure, he needs to become far more consistent night in night out than he has been. Yesterday does not make him NHL ready. A solid remainder of camp without any nights off will go a long ways to helping his cause, though.

The "Sven is NHL ready, Johnny goes to the AHL" comments after one period last night were ridiculous though. It was one good period following a full lousy game. Let's stop that nonsense. How about we just wait and see, and hope for the best instead.

On another note, loved Carr's game. He's been solid all camp so far.

I can only speak for my defense of Glencross but I'm not going to apologize for it...the grief he takes from the same posters over and over is frustrating and ridiculous.

He would have to skate around with his motor on full speed and a crap eating smile on his face 100% of the time to please some of these guys.

The coaches and management of this team have extremely high expectations for effort and care and community so I don't think they would keep him around with an A on his sweater if any of this garbage was actually true.

People need to realise that NHL ice is wayyyy bigger than some small town alberta rink

The rumour around town is that is was messed up when it was build and it is a bit bigger that 200 x 85.

I thought Brookbank was terrible - First 2 Coyotes goals were his fault IMO, or he could have at least disrupted the scoring chance.

Also - how about some love for Ball and Hrudey!!!! Very stoked to see Sportsnet pick up these 2 guys. They called a great game. Now Sportsnet, don't go muck this up with digital advertising all over the glass/ice again this year, and you'll be back in my good books

I could attempt to give this post context. Or I could not.

On the morning of September 24th, 2014, the Calgary Flames and Arizona Coyotes arrived in the small Alberta resort community of Sylvan Lake to play a preseason exhibition game. Chances abounded to be a part of the incendiary company led by Lord Bob Hartley, and nary a soul wished to see this opportunity go to waste. It took little time for the night to capture the interest of those inside the arena and out.

The Coyotes were the first to dispatch their zero on the scoreboard. With Finnish squire Joni Ortio unable to stymie the initial Arizona salvo, Matt Kassian seized the opportunity to bombard the rear of the Calgary mesh with black rubber.

Seeking to curry the favor of Lord Bob, Teutonic forward David Wolf instead saw his over-exuberance result in a 2-minute minor for roughing. Fortunately for the home side, Sam of the House Reinhart earned the best opportunity to add to the scoresheet in this instance.

Joe Colborne, affectionately known by my younger sister as ‘J-Goalbs’, performed his duties with the self assuredness you would expect of a youth who saw himself conscripted into the service of the Flames for a further two years during the summer. (*Editor’s note: It’s preseason for me too, people. Preseason with an expansion roster)

Calgary’s fortunes soon took a turn for the worse. Once again unable to safely repel the first Coyote volley, Ortio was only able to watch in horror as Joe Vitale swatted the puck out of the clutches of mid-air and into the waiting embrace of the net.

Yet hope remained. Immediately following the drop of the puck, Markus Granlund and Michael Ferland took it upon themselves to organize a counterattack. The resulting 2-on-1 foray into the offensive zone did not produce a goal, but forced journeyman tender Mike McKenna to make a quality stop.

Their momentum building, the Flames earned the right to outnumber their opponents and sought to obliterate the goalkeeper’s shutout bit. As the first period gasped its dying breaths, new recruit Deryk Engelland launched a shot through the meat grinder which had formed in front of McKenna. The attempt breached the top corner, and Calgary was within one.

The Flames made haste to equalize the contest as they emerged from the dressing room. Finding himself the centre of attention for the second time that evening, Markus Granlund pirouetted off a rival defender to collect a loose puck before graciously deferring possession to noted pugilist Brian McGrattan. The Big Ern had the puck on his stick for but a moment, and now the game was tied.

Arizona was quick to exact their retribution upon the home side. BJ Crombeen crashed the net with aplomb, and saw the puck enter the net in a manner most unskilled. Nonetheless, the Coyotes had restored themselves a 1-goal lead.

Entering play, a not insubstantial amount of focus had been placed on forward Sven Baertschi. The talented youth had often drawn the ire of Lord Bob during his brief NHL career, and he sought to change perceptions this night. Showing off his commitment to a more abraisive disposition, Sven provided two Coyotes with one-way tickets to the lowest point of the rink, all expenses paid. His work did not end there.

Improbably, the men in red were once again able to rally in the final minute of the period. Streaking down the wing, Sven whipped a wrist shot on target which managed to infiltrate the negative space between McKenna’s arm and chest. As the curtain descended on the middle frame, the affair was deadlocked 3-3.

The third period saw both starting netminders bid adieu to their respective creases. Pre-destined or not, neither man abandoned his post with glee. Relievers Doug Carr and Brendan Burke were sturdy when called upon, but the flow of the game had deteriorated drastically as regulation drew to a close.

Late penalties to Brett Kulak and Patrick Sieloff put the Flames in a precarious position in the final moments, but Kulak’s minor expired with incident, and Calgary escaped into extra time needing only to delay the Arizona attack for half a minute before returning to full strength. And the forward tabbed by Lord Bob to ensure the overtime session continued? J-Goalbs.

Although still early in the preseason, the Coyotes were reminded of the harsh reality that the referees giveth, and the referees taketh away. Calgary received a power play of their own, and Kris Russell sent a quick wrist shot flying toward the Arizona goal. Summertime Sylvan Lake resident Curtis Glencross intercepted the puck just below the cross bar to redirect it passed Brendan of the House Burke for the winning tally. With the play initially disallowed for high-sticking, the officials conducted a brief summit at centre ice and determined the marker to be a good goal. The final score read 4-3, and Lord Bob’s men departed Sylvan Lake victorious.

I just rewatched the game and he won virtually every board battle. I'm just not sure what people are looking at
