This sucks because Van is now off the hook from the awful contract

Hardly. They're still going to have recapture penalties and it sounds like they're retaining salary.

James Duthie @tsnjamesduthie
Matthias could be the other player with Markstrom coming back for Luongo. #Tradecentre

Good for Lou to finally get out of that place. I fully expect the Nucks to be near the bottom with us now.

...good news in this is that it should push Florida above us in the standings and guarantee us Sam Bennett.

Actually started to like Luongo with the way he handled himself while the Canucks bumbled around with their whole goalie fiasco. Glad he finally gets to move on.

Think the Canucks regret trading Schneider now? Seems him and Lack might have made a good tandem going forward.

Feel bad for Markstrom. Probably the new whipping boy in Vancouver if he doesn't play lights out. The Canucks went from Luongo and Schneider to Lack and Markstrom. Major drop off.

They better hope Horvat turns into the next Brian Trottier.

Vancouver in on Halak now? Would make sense as they have a starting goaltender with all of about 10 NHL starts...AND a heritage classic under his belt.

Lack has been very good this year, and a 1 year ago people were saying Florida shouldn't get Luongo because of Markstrom being a legit guy (funny now he's a bust...)

I am ok going forward with Lack as a starter, he is all ready a top 20 guy IMO

May he suck as thoroughly as Booth has, for the rest of his Vancouver days.

Vancouver reportedly retaining some salary in the deal. Hopefully it's a decent amount, because that hit will last forever.

Doubt it, trading Lou is a sure sign that they are giving up on playoffs this year.

Can't wait to see the comments from Canuck fans.

No kidding. If he doesn't pan out the return for both goaltenders is absolutely terrible.

Yes and they also got rid of a bad contract. I think the Canucks is throwing the towel now with both Sedins hurting they don't like their chances. So, now they traded their goalie and they will soon trade Kesler.
