Jarome Iginla is the perfect replacement. Experience and right handed shot. Doesn't even have to dress.

@GinoRedaTSN: Stamkos has 164 goals since last Olympics. More than anyone else. Ovie ranks 2nd, 15 fewer goals in 26 more games. Not close. HUGE loss.
Iggy has scored 110 goals since the last Olympics

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Team Canada continues to consider its options to replace Stamkos. No official timeline has been determined.

Crosby should be putting iginla's name in yzerman's ear right now... Iginla gave him the biggest goal in Canadian hockey history. The kid should constantly be singing iginla's praises for that.

I know it will never be Iginla, but man, that would be awesome. I would be much more emotionally invested in the team if he was. Oh well.

Feel so bad for Stamkos. No question he has been working his ass off to try to get healthy so he could go. Has to be devastating for him right now.
I'd be happy with either St.Louis or Staal as I would have had them on my team anyways.

Apparently it's Staal and he is now the captain...

While Staal is looking forward to leading Canada to their second consecutive gold medal at Sochi, he remains mindful of what's most important in his life.

I was googling him to check his stats and that was the second article that popped up. Think they would check the internet atleast before publishing a whole article on him being on the team, never mind the captain part.

This is essentially the pinnacle of competition as far as hockey is concerned and there is no place for passengers. You field the best team you can at the present time and Mackinnon is not in that league yet.
|
Well, if you're old fashioned, maybe you remember the Soviets always having a kid line - why? Getting the experience, and adding youthful energy, while at the same time learning how to be successful and leaders on the biggest stage, in preparation for the next tournament.
And it's not like MacKinnon is a plug. He is already as fast as anyone in the NHL and his game is trending nicely: after 40 games he had 24 points, since then he has 18 pts in 16 games

Watching That's Hockey 2 Nite and as they're talking replacements someone tweeted in Hall. Kouleas actually chuckled. "That'd really be off the board. I don't even think he's in consideration."
Made my night.

Iggy is having a pretty decent year @40 pts in 55 games and a +22. It'd be a shock but it is not as if he wouldn't belong there. St. Louis and Giroux are the obvious replacements with both being basically point per game players.
I didn't realize Seguin is exactly on a point per game pace on a bubble team. His name is no where to be found as a replacement.

Hmmm...

Steve Stamkos isn’t 5’9″ nor is he 185 lbs.
That would be Martin St. Louis.

Claude Giroux, Martin St Louis, Tyler seguin are the most obvious replacements I would think, would be awesome if was Jarome, but I doubt it
