I hope it all works out for him.
Unfortunately, he was the boobs on the Flames' bull.
I'm sure a few grief counselling sessions will have Bob Hartley back to coaching to his usual standard.

My prediction was off:
I said he would be traded in 10 days. He made it 14 days (post 19)

When a coach goes out of his way to promote a role player to top line minutes, compliment him to national media, and then he mysteriously goes back to his limited minute role, chances are pretty good he was/is being showcased for a trade.
Wish him the best. A bit surprised Jones was called up for his spot though.

I'm sure the Colborne acquisition had some influence from Burke (most likely he would have vetoed it if he had a bad impression of Colborne), but unless Burke left mind-control drugs in his desk before he left Anaheim, I'm not sure how this looks like a move that doesn't get made without his influence.
It's pretty much a player dump from the Flames' perspective. It happens whether Burke worked for the other team once or not.

Draft picks are always nice but we should be trying to develop our own players, expecially on the less skilled end of the spectrum where we have multiple prospects who can benefit from playing time. I guess technically we could sign half a dozen vets every year intending to trade them for draft picks but it wouldn't look good on the team and it would hurt our player development.
And please don't lump me in with Bertuzzied.

I didnt mind Jackman and his play here, but the reality is that there were a number of guys behind him that played the same role to the same effectiveness, namely Lance Bouma.
Unfortunately for Jackman, Bouma is much younger and much cheaper.

Good luck to him in his future endeavors and all that jazz...but I love this move.
I thought Jackman was a very effective player his first season here. But along the way he just lost whatever made him effective. The last couple of seasons he's become dead weight. For a team that's trying to promote energy and youth, he's just not really needed here anymore, and was taking time away from the next generation.
Good job, Feaster and friends.

Not a lot cheaper, less than $50,000 difference. Jackman isn't making that much.
In fact, the Flames' cap payroll actually goes up by trading Jackman ($612,500) and recalling Jones ($650,000).
