Not that I like the injuries but they happen and it should take away any worry about our young players getting playing time. Opportunity knocks almost every day for someone to step up and get ice time.

I really can't wait to see how Colborne does, I really hope he plays and I hope he fits in well. Again, I don't care about the score as much as the game itself. It's awesome to see the guys do what they can just to guage their tallent.

Personally I think the Flames have great depth on the farm. Lots of unproven players but guys like Reinhart, Knight, Granlund, Ferland, Horak, Wortherspoon, Sieloff, Breen all could be future NHLers. Sure these guys are not going to come in and be impact players but it seems like we have more prospects that can come in an play than we have had in the past several years

For the love of god Hartley, I know you like the kid, and it's great and all, but playing Sven/Monahan >>>> overplaying Street.
He might have been alright yesterday, but who're we trying to develop here? C'mon.

I agree on Monahan, but Baertschi was on game 26, and has handled more then 11minutes on numerous occasions.
I guess I sound like a broken record.
However I do have to give Harltey some credit Backlund, who I thought looked great yesterday, did get a lot of time on the ice. Same with Brodie.
This season I only really care to watch about 5 players play:
Sven/Backlund/Brodie/Colborne and if he stays Monahan

I totally agree with you although Street looked really good out there. My issue is Hartley pretty much designating Glennie, Staj, Stemps as our top line. We also need more skill on our PP.

I love the way I get to watch this season, dissociated from the need for wins. I am cheering for wins hard, but if they lose, well, I'm not too broken up about it. Just enjoying watching them all play.
Go hockey!!!

yes there is no plug and play depth like the Stamps. If the Flames suffer any injuries to 2 or 3 players within the same time span on the roster this team will really be struggling to compete unless they defy the odds.
Hope for the best.

Part of developing players involves not just handing them 1st line roles but making them earn it through their play. Street was pretty good last night. Monahan and Baertschi were meh. When Monahan and Baertschi show they deserve the ice time they should get it.

That's crazy!
Scott Cruickshank@CruickshankCH9m
Including pre-season, #Flames LW Lance Bouma has five goals in five games . . . on five shots.

I agree that ice-time should be earned, but Street was no better than Monahan or Baertschi - they all played pretty equally well.
One shift in OT or on a PP is not going to spoil their work ethic.

Exactly ^ Street didn't prove any more than Sven or Monahan. But he was handed the minutes, regardless. Makes it look like Hartley is playing favorites (it's been told that he really likes Street), rather than giving the team's most talented youngster the opportunities to play in different situations. Playing Street instead of them on the PP was especially confusing. We could've secured the W early in the 3rd, and it's beyond me why Bob didn't care to use these kids in an offensive situation that have the talent to put the puck in.
You don't have to play them 20 minutes, but 13-16 minutes each is about right for their line. Whereas their 11 minutes last night was pretty minimal.. (and for a 65 minute game)

My expectations are low since the Flames never win when I attend games, but I'm just hoping to see another good effort.

I can't believe McBackup still has an NHL job, even as a backup.
