5 - dont listen to people that say eating healthy has everything to do with weight loss. It has NOTHING to do with weight loss, weight loss is purely a math game. You can if you calculate your weight loss with consuming 1600 calories a day then you can eat anything you want for those calories. Some food will cause you to be less hungry but from a pure weight loss pov its all math and nothing but math.
I disagree.. Yes I agree that if you base everything on 1600 cals then you can eat whatever but you're also not taking into account the fat, trans fats and saturated fats in some food. For example a footlong Vege sub at subway is about 600 cals.. 2 cheseburgers from mcdonalds is about 600 cals as well.. I think the Vege sub will definatley help you lose weight over the cheeseburgers.

For me, if I were to eat (2) mcdonalds cheeseburgers, it would activate my hunger and cravings. I'd likely relent and eat more due to higher cravings. If I were to eat the Vege sub, my cravings wouldn't be activated.

Well, you may be right about what may or may not happen after, but the point does stand. 1600 calories is 1600 calories from a PURELY weight loss standpoint - all other health concerns notwithstanding.

2 - when you eat does matter. Dont eat 4-5 hours before going to bed. When you get up in the morning exercise first then have breakfast. Also only weigh yourself once a week, and do it at the same time in the morning before eating and after having your am bathroom break
Hugely disagree with working out before you eat in the mornings. You can't get the most out of a work out (cardio or lifting) without fueling your body. People say will say things like "there's nothing on your stomach you'll burn straight fat" working out before you eat but that's not true at all. Calories burnt are calories burnt. You won't be able to burn as many or go as hard running on empty.

Dunno much about inspirational movies, but you might wanna bring along Rocky if only for the training montage and accompanying soundtrack. Almost an automatic 'let's get in shape!' brain trigger on that one, haha!

It can be preference. However, I've read and seen first hand that working out before eating breakfast stunts your gains. I'm not saying eat a big plate of eggs and bacon and go straight to the gym either here. Eat when you wake up and pick a time that suits your schedule to go work out.

As someone who dropped 40 lbs about 5 years ago (down to a healthy 180), I ate complete #### for 3 months (as per usual), but far less of it than I did prior. I kept myself below 1800 calories (usually between 1500-1800), and exercised 45m-60m daily for 90 days.
Personally, I feel it's a lot more important to learn how to say no to yourself and eat less calories per day overall than it is to eat kale and sprouts. It makes it far easier as well.

Really has nothing to do with your stay, though the main character does go to expensive restaurants than force himself to choke to make money. Hence the title. So maybe a little to do with food, and stuffing your face.
But mostly it's about a sex addict looking for redemption, then not so much, and the pitfalls along with way, dealing with addiction. Hmmm, maybe another tie in, addiction-wise.
It's dark, raunchy, and clever. One of the few books I'll actually laugh out loud to.

I agree with this. If an individual is prone to overeating, then the first thing they need to recognize is they aren't actually hungry, and don't need the extra food.
I'm currently struggling with this aspect, and I need to rekindle the will power necessary to lessen my caloric intake to a level that is more complimentary to my lifestyle.
I also think it is important to eat foods you enjoy, rather than suffer through "kale and sprouts" - unless of course you love those. Just consume them in moderation, and maybe try cooking more healthful versions. Love hamburgers? Great. Instead of hitting McDonald's, grill one up at home. Use an alternative protein, or try an open face burger. There are countless ways to "healthify" a comfort food so that it's still delicious, but a lot healthier.
A lot of great advice. Not everything works for everyone, but it's great to hear what's out there.
Eat before the gym or eat after, it barely matters, and it is not the same for all people. Figure out what works for you. I like to have no breakfast, a big lunch, and work out in the evening at dinner time. I then eat dinner right before bed.
Calories are calories, burn more than you take in, and you will lose weight, but all people are different.
Eating healthy has lots of advantages, but is not super critical to weight loss. But it might be, so watch how your body reacts.
Breakfast is not the most important meal of the day. It might be for some people, but not all. I find my insulin is not produced equally all the time, or at least I feel that way sometimes.
Protein before or after the gym does not matter. A serious weight lifter can go with at least a gram/pound they weigh. I bet there are many studies that disagree, but in the end it does not matter. The differences are marginal. I like to have a coffee before/during the gym and protein after.
Lots of people follow the common nutritional guidelines and feel that it benefits their results. I follow a different set of rules and get excellent results, as do many other people.
My serious gym rat days are behind me, but take my advice, the more muscle you have on your body, the more calories you burn sitting on your couch playing video games and sleeping. Do what it takes to add muscle, in particular your legs (which for many people grow quickly), this should really help.
My impression based on a long time of working out with many different people is that there are lots of weight loss myths that are barely true. Sure, some things might be better for you, but it might be marginal, if at all. Each person is different. The right body with the worst foods will do better than an average person with the best foods. Try different things, and try them for a while so you can see what works, than go from there. Nothing beats heavy weights, in my opinion.
