at some point you have to stop and look at results rather than spin.
You should take your own advice and look at results rather than spin. Would I trade a 6th or 7th overall pick for a 21-year-old averaging greater than a point per game? Yes I would.

Yakupov is too early to tell, but I likely would not for Eberle or RNH at this point

You're also looking at spin vs results wrt your complaint about the Islanders. Matt Moulson is a three-time 30-goal scorer who is averaging a point per game this year. Brad Boyes was added this year, and they have good support pieces in Nielsen, Streit and Okposo. Vishnovsky has been huge for them on the blueline, and Nabokov has solidified their goaltending (though his numbers are not outstanding.)

The Islanders don't have the same level of pure top-end talent the Oilers do, but they have a much stronger team from top to bottom. That is why they are in the playoffs. Put John Tavares in Hall's place with the Oilers, and Edmonton is still deep in lottery territory.

Oh and if Iggy goes to the Oilers in the summer the guy is dead to me.

Whitney has been a healthy scratch more often than not this year...pretty sad considering our defense

so no, he's far from the best

I'd take Tavares over Hall any day of the week. If he was an Oiler I think they would be a better team than with Hall.

They would probably throw ridiculous money and term at him.

Iginla hasn't lived in Edmonton for nearly 20 years. I seriously doubt that he has such a pressing attachment; he has lived his entire adult life between Calgary and Kelowna.

I don't really care for Iginla anymore but if he signs with the Oilers with all the other options out there then the Flames mgmt better remember that and never think about retiring his number here.

exactly. might as well say "I was born in a North Korean holding cell, then eventually escaped and lived in a nice Miami beach house for 20 years. but I've always dreamed of going back because that's where I came from."

Not to mention it was Martin Havlat who led the team in scoring.

Yup, the only saving grace is Vancouver's cap situation. But you'd have to think that YVR is high on Iginla's list. Fans have always shown him alot of respect there, he fits a team need, and it's close to home.

Better still would you trade Mackinnon, Jones or Drouin even up for any one of these guys?

at some point you have to stop and look at results rather than spin.
No way would I trade our pick if it were in MacKinnon, Drouin or Jones range, all those guys have potential to be better then the Oilers young guys. And if there was still Lindholm or Monahan at 6th or 7th then no I still wouldn't trade our pick for Edmontons young guys.

Buyout Booth and Ballard, Luongo trade has to happen if we like it or not. Assume we let Raymond walk... Hey we need a winger....

Most likely, but Vancouver is a team he'd be open to, so says Lebrun like two weeks ago on team 1040
