Of course, women had their "suffrage" so they should be happy now, right? Just like people of color got past segregation, so now racism is over!
This doesn't even go into the horrors that women in other countries face on a daily basis. Genital mutilation, btw, happens a whole lot to women in other nations. While Sharon Osborne might've joked about a man getting hurt, no one even talks about these poor girls who are mutilated every day--and I'd say that ignorance is a whole lot worse than mocking.
Look at how Asian women are treated, both in Asian nations as well as in the US. I'm fortunate enough to be a Caucasian woman, so I don't face nearly what women of color/latinas/asian women deal with on a constant basis.
But nope, women make fun of men sometimes, so the scales are tipped to favor women!

"Second hand but true" no doubt. Sounds like a scene from Planet of the Apes.
Luckily "The Man" was there to stop it in time.

Speak for yourself, not all men. While I would never date someone whom I did not find sexually attractive (and I suspect most people of both genders would agree with that comment), I absolutely do not judge all women I meet based on their "attractiveness and that alone." What an absolutely horrible comment that is not indicative of the attitudes of all men.

But as I mentioned earlier, the Internet never seems to tire of the "if you're a woman, show us your boobs" or the "back in the kitchen" jokes. Far past its expiration date. And the ongoing usage makes me wonder if it's an actual issue rather than the non-serious humour it sounded like earlier...because they are as dead as Chuck Norris jokes.
I find it a bit intresting that when Michael Richards throws out racial slurs, his career dies, when Tracy Morgan says he'd pull a knife and stab him, he had to attend sensitivity classes...yet, when Tosh makes such comments, it's the offended party that's told to be less sensitive.
I don't have all the details on Tosh's joke, so I'm in no position to judge, but it's unusual from what I know.

He was making a rape joke, of some form, I forget the exacts, and a woman actually spoke up and said rape isn't funny, to which he exacerbated the situation by saying "Wouldn't it be hilarious if like, five guys came and raped her right now?" (Paraphrasing, but that's the gist of it)
One in four women is sexually assaulted. The chances that assault victims were in his audience is huge.
And then you have ######bags like Jeff Ross who are mediocre comedians, overweight and physically unattractive, attacking hugely successful Adele for her weight? Because a woman is nothing if she's not a size 6, regardless of her achievements.

Go on, how else are the sexes "not even close" to being equal?
|
1) When is the last time a woman was a mass murderer? When's the last time a woman went on a shooting spree? Men are, in general, more violent in large scale events.
2/3) Thank you for reinforcing my points! Men don't care about a woman's mind, only where she lands on the 1-10 scale. And then they want to nail her, of course. But that would ruin her purity! So the woman has a choice--if she refuses to sleep with the man, she's a prude or a tease, how dare she refuse a man something that he wants? But if she DOES sleep with him, she's a slut, and obviously not worthy of a long-term relationship. Do you not see the issue here? Honestly?
As for how are men and women not equal? Who gets paid more? Who pays more for healthcare in the US? Whose reproductive rights are constantly being debated and impeded? Who are used merely as visual stimulation in advertisements? Who are constantly told to "get over it" when someone offends them? When a woman is raped, how often is it said "she was asking for it"?
There are a million ways that women are treated unfairly, and until you actually have a vagina, you have absolutely zero right to say that sexism doesn't exist.

With Tosh's joke, he started by saying that not all rape jokes were in bad taste and that he had quite a few that were actually funny that he was going to present. A female started heckling him and he responded by saying something along the lines of "I wish someone would rape you right now." And then continued on that vein for a while.
It was quite offensive and I think is right up there with Kramer's response to the heckler at his show. I followed the Tosh story a bit when it came out though and can't remember any support saying that the woman in the audience should toughen up. The best I could find online was that Louis CK tweeted that Tosh was funny after the incident. That was coupled with every other post condemning what he said.

Here's a suggestion: speak only for "Mikey the Redneck", and not for anyone else.
Don't say "men thinks this" and "men do that".
Say "Mikey the Redneck thinks this" and "Mikey the Redneck does that".
Your boner tests and game changers and suspicions and assumptions and opinions and theories are all your own. They don't apply to anyone else.

One gender has a choice to become a parent after conception the other doesn't. Now since a women has a right to her body obviously the male cant demand an abortion but they should have the right to opt out of being a parent. Now this would probably negatively affect society but in terms of equal rights the current situation is very unequal.

A whole bunch of comedians (mostly male) came out in his support, and several have continued to make comments about how women should just "toughen up" if they can't take it. Jeff Ross is the first to come to mind, but there was a laundry list. Louis CK actually was tweeting with regards to something else, and was unaware of the situation, and backed off of his support shortly afterward (which made me incredibly happy, I love Louis CK).
Actually, here's a good example of the rush of support from the comedy brotherhood.

It's ridiculous, but it is a widely held attitude. It's completely sexist, but it boils down to the belief (which is mostly true) that a woman can have sex largely whenever she wants to, so the ones who don't are to be idolized for exhibiting self-control. The other side of it is ego and insecurity. Guys tend to compete with each other in almost every regard including "sexual conquests." This leads to this idea that if other men have slept with the woman you're with, you've somehow been one-upped.
Again, it's a dumb attitude, but I think it's more a reflection of Western society's unhealthy sexual attitudes/repression.
EDIT: And not to go all Karl Marx here, but this is also a reflection of capitalist values.

Not really. For a man's hormones to be altered in such a way for him to no longer produce sperm that it would be very, very close to chemical castration.

Also, I don't particularly have a problem with what Tosh did, but then again I don't really think anything is off-limits as long as the intent isn't malicious.

I think this is pretty poor logic. You have a choice before she is pregnant. Once pregnant you have the responsibility to raise and support your child. The law is setup to protect the child first and foremost and what is best for the child is the prime concern. The child didn't chose to be borne into a single family home so why should you be allowed to punish it to spite its mom.
Keep in mind, that if a random encounter ends up with a pregnancy that is carried to term you do still have rights, specifically custody.

I realize how you've come to these conclusions, but evo-psych is one of the least rigorous "sciences" existent in an already very soft science. Claiming as fact hypotheses that can be hardly subjected to the scientific method is counter-intuitive to your argument. It's also not biology -- it's psychology, even if it derives some principles from biology.

I'm as big of a fan as evolutionary psychology as anyone, but even the most strident proponent would admit that there are environmental factors they can't always account for.

Both parties have a choice before conception.
One party has a choice after conception.
It is fundementally unequal. It is not debatable.
I agree that it is not in the best interests of the child not to have more single mothers but we are talking about equality not what is good for society.

I agree the law has to be set up the way it is but it is tragic that a wanted fetus can be killed because it is an incovenience for one party.

I can't really say I'm a fan myself, but it is definitely interesting to read, no question about that. However, to form your modern world view around it like mikey_the_redneck does . . . I don't even know where to begin. To pretend it's not a social science (I realize not everybody does, but the few that do are enough to grate on me) is enough to turn me off from the whole subject at times.
