Aside from Parise, he was my favorite available forward for the Flames. Maybe a Jordan Staal type situation where a team will get more with an increased role? I think I would be more open to Jagr now too. Couple of guys to play with Sven and increase the skill of our top 6.
Plus it's not Semin.

Yeah, never thought of him as a C. Just something that popped up in this thread. As I mentioned before, I'm definitely glad.

I was just floating the idea out there because I never thought of him as a C until it was brought up in this thread.
You also have to consider what may have drawn him from Detroit to Calgary. Not saying that was my solid viewpoint, just wanted people's opinions of that as an opportunity.
Glad to hear it's a very very definite 'NO!'

Ugh.....
Not a fan. He was the ufa I was most concerned would be a contract year wonder.
Even his own teammates in Detroit saw it.
Does he add skill, yes, but he brings more risk and less reward than semin and oli.
The price was likely less than what oli and semin will fetch anyways I guess. The cap hit is not bad. The term is a problem for me though

Hudler averages 75 games played per season while Alice averages just over 50 games per season. Hudler makes less, plays more games and scores at nearly the same clip per game. Only thing nutty is Oiler fans comparing the two signings and thinking the Hemsky contract is better.

He'll replace Olli in the goofy-looking European category too.

Wow, did not see that coming.
I think he has the potential to take off in Calgary. He hasn't exactly been playing top 6 minutes consistently in Detroit.
I remember a lot of calgarypuckers wanting the Flames to draft him all those years ago.
Pretty pleased with this.

Not going win any in the alleys.
Has to be trade coming.
There can'be anyone who would not want Prust on this roster instead of Stempniak.

Give it a rest already. You seem like Stempniak ran over your dog.
No one cares how upset you are about it, and to keep bringing it up like a broken record is getting really boring.

Colour me shocked. Would have never expected Hudler to come to Calgary. Hopefully he lights it up here.

I hate Hudler.
Not a fan of adding him to our organization. Not impressed at all. (I do like his skill though an he'll bring an element that we need, just can't stand him)
