My guess is that there were similiar offers on the table in terms of $$$ but the Flames had the longest term. 4 years is a pretty big commitment for a guy who has a history of jumping ship to play in the KHL.
Solid. Good, versatile player, decent money. Not an amazing signing, but I'm probably more confident about this than just about any move Feaster has made during his tenure.

Well, if he does, it's not like the Flames owe him anything.
Another Small soft , but skilled forward..... Cammalleri, Tanguay and Hudler.... all in the top 6 and smurfs. Add Baertschi and Stajan and it makes you wonder what Feaster was thinking when he signed Stempniak.
Butler, Bouw, Smith, and Brodie on defense.
Not going win any in the alleys.
Has to be trade coming.
There can'be anyone who would not want Prust on this roster instead of Stempniak.
Don`t see why people are gushing over Mueller. Sure he has potential but the guy is STILL having concussion related issues and has never had more then 50points
And on Hudler: Over payment IMO. Would rather have Parenteau

At least it's something different, and I don't mind the term or price. Very surprised he signed here for that $ value. A little scared Detroit was making him look better than he is, but I guess we'll see.
1. Right age group
2. Lots of skill
3. Versatile player
Hopefully it works out.
Definite skill boost and is in the right age group as you've mentioned. Is he versatille though?
He's seen roughly 13 Min per game in his 5 years with Detroit (granted on a deep team). I remember hearing he was constantly in Babcock's doghouse for his poor play away from the puck for the last two years which is concerning.
So long as this isn't tied down with NMc/NTC clause it seems like it should be a fair deal though.
Thought he would be more than 4m in this market. Will be interesting to see what he does with real minutes not playing behind Zetterberg or Datsyuk. He tore up the KHL when he was there.
He didn't play behind Zetterberg, he played with him. Just under 70% of his TOI was with Zetterberg.
