The advisory is over for Hidden Valley, Hamptons, and Sherwood.

I think the city did a good job getting the word out in a timely manner. If you don't read/watch/listen to any media, go online, or read notices as you enter/leave your community I don't think there is much hope for you anyways.

Caught a news clip like this last night on the 6 o'clock CTV news, nothing like white suburbanites complaining about having to boil their water, while they hold a cup of timmies in their hand, while making references to this not being Africa, while they hold a garage sale to get rid of more personal items than the average African would ever have in their lifetime. To me it was the "ugly Calgarian" in full force, it made me feel dirty.

The thing that get's me is that @Neshi posted "URGENT: Boil Water Advisory" to twitter at 9:14 PM by 9:29 PM (Yes 15 fata minutes) there was people complaining "WHY weren't **we** told!1!"

I get it, you just downed a big ol glass of water and then immediately see "boil water in *your neighbourhood*" so you get a little worried/scared. But come on, we live in a large city and you found out within an hour, even if the city had gone with door knocking first, do you think it would have been faster?

You wonder if the part of the brain that keeps you from saying something stupid to reporters isn't active in some people:

"It makes me feel like I'm in Africa or a third world country where you actually have to boil water so you don't get malaria and stuff like that," said Maureen Simpson.
Really? You had to boil your water once in your life in Calgary for a couple of days, and you're comparing it to life in some areas in African?

I also found the one about the person who was now too afraid to go out for dinner a bit perplexing. There aren't that many restaurants in the affected area.

I thought you got malaria from mosquitoes? Or do they have mosquito drinks in Africa and as such it would need to be boiled to stop the mosquitoes from making you sick when you drink them..... and when theythen bite you in your belly.

I did not know who that was so I did a search and found the video.

Holy crap I cannot believe some people. "There should have been a siren or something", WTF a siren? Cause when you are sitting at home and all of a sudden a siren goes off everyone is just going to go "Oh no we need to boil our water now. That's the boil water siren!"

Some people are very stupid in this world. Half the people who posted haha, North for example in this thread...

Any ways it was pretty straight forward and easy 4 - 5 days of bottled water to wash/clean everything and guess what the world carries on, no big deal. The fact that the News station even let these people on imo is the biggest mistake and disgrace of this entire event. It is like they found the Stupidest people in these areas and put them on camera to get them to say something stupid...for news. Overall it was handled as well as it could be by the City of Calgary and they did a fantastic job of ensuring the water is up to their standards before removing the advisories.

Wow, there really are a lot of stupid people out there huh? I wonder if any of these people feel embarrassed seeing how dumb they look on TV. I know if I was their friend or family, I'd be embarrassed for them.
