Basically 25-30 $ lasts a week through having usual suspects like a bunch of banana's, 2 loafs of bread, pasta, sauce, some cheap beef and whatever else I can afford.
It's really not hard to eat well on a budget. I keep a balanced diet and get exercise within that constraint.
I shop at the cheapest grocery store when I can and do costco runs when I can afford spending a bigger lump sum.
I think the biggest thing I'm looking forward to post-graduation is spending a lot more on groceries!
Oh, and there are church dinners tuesday nights so that's good.

The Super Wal-Mart's cut a huge amount of money from my monthly grocery bills. Shop there for just about everything except meat now (only buy meat from Costco).
It really adds up when everything is $1-2 cheaper there than anywhere else.

That makes sense. When you wondered aloud how people can spend $200/week on groceries it was for a family, not a single dude.

We have a family of 5, all 3 kids are under 12 and we spend $150 a week/ $600 a month on average. We shop at No Frills though, I am sure the same stuff bought at Sobeys or Safeway would cost about $220 a week, if not more.

Just a quick endorsement of Spud.ca.
Delivery of (mostly) organic groceries has been awesome. Not only does it save time, but we find we actually save money because we buy only the items we will eat. We waste very little food while we are at it.
I know some are apprehensive due to cost and the hippy stigma, but it is honestly the best thing we have done to cut both our grocery costs and time shopping.
PM me for a coupon code if you are interested.

I'm in the UK and pay £2.99 a month to get my groceries delivered once a week on either a Tue, Wed or Thurs. For a family of 3 I spend about £60-£75 a week, so about £300 ($480) a month. I get my groceries from Ocado (Waitrose) - I could get cheaper elsewhere, but their own brand products are superior to any of the other supermarkets that deliver.

IMO, Wal Mart's meat is no good. AA Beef just doesn't cut it. The cuts of meat that Costco has are far superior and cost close to the same per steak, etc.

Also getting your groceries delivered means you are likely to only order what you need rather than getting sucked into 'deals' that end up increasing your outlay.

You guys are lucky with grocery costs, food is frickin' expensive here. Including fruit, which is grown within the state - I swear that it's cheaper to buy fruit in Canada that was grown here. I spend about $400 / month, which is a lot considering that I don't bag lunches for work, don't buy much junk food, and the g/f cooks me dinner at her place a few times a week. But it probably doesn't help that I'm a dude cooking for one / sometimes two in a place with good weather year round... in all honesty, 9 out 10 dinners for me include quality time in front of the BBQ. It's not conscientious behaviour to subject your BBQ to substandard quality meats.

About $100-$250 per week. It completely varies depending on what we feel like eating that week for a family of four.
Sometimes if we feel like going to T & T that week, our grocery bill that week just goes out the window LOL
