Nah man you #### off with your nonsense. People like you RGMG. I drive to work downtown every day, and I walked all around downtown last night, and it's not that big a deal. "My life is mildly inconvenienced by people trying to do their utterly thankless jobs, wah wah wah!"
Like I said, but less politely now: if left up to the average idiot out there nothing would ever get built.

I'm guessing you're one of the people doing the work or authorizing it, because no one with a functioning brain would say that it's "no big deal" or a "mild inconvenience".

Are you seriously personally attacking and complaining...about someone complaining...in a grind my gears thread?
Calm down. You seem to be taking it personally.

I rollerbladed by it yesterday evening, haha yeah it was intense. Some pretty wild outfits there and it was pumpin'. People on the bike paths were almost crashing into each other rubbernecking as they passed it.

His last sentence is why. If the lane needs to be blocked absolutely, it’s when there is nothing happening for days, just move the pylons to the side of the road until they are need them move them back god forbid they have to pay a guy for a minute of work. Fata, I’ll do it. So a contractor can park his tercel 10 feet from work.
I go to work just like a contractor, why can’t I just block a lane next to my building to park. You aren’t a surgeon, you frame walls, pay to park like the rest of us.

I sure noticed a difference in how the States works vs Canada while road tripping this year. Major road work in the States means closing that lane only and dropping the speed from 80mph to 65mph. Mowing the ditch in Canada shut downs the shoulder, one lane, and drops the speed from 100kph to 50kph.

You ever gone through your emails (hotmail gmail whatever), including Junk folders, and tried to unsubscribe and block senders. Still seem to get emails from them. Sigh…

They're building a station across the street from my office.
I'm buckling up for years of Hell.

Idiotic whiners who whine about construction projects is a pet peeve of mine, so it's a perfectly apt place to post about it.

No, we don’t charge enough money for lane closures for road work and building construction. The economic value of the time wasted greatly outweighs the efficiency created by the having the construction space
https://www.calgary.ca/content/dam/w...e-schedule.pdf
$11/m/week so about 1100 a week to destroy traffic for a block. That clearly isn’t enough since these areas are not set up and taken down throughout various project phases

The same ones that have to swerve into the lane to the left to make that right turn? Like their mid size SUV is an 18 wheeler?

Could you also calculate the time value lost of that asinine double to single lane change on westbound 16th Ave (TransCanada) approaching Stoney north? Even at 6pm on Thursday the vehicle line went back to COP. Day after day. It’s been in place now for a couple months - it was definitely annoying in the summer but traffic volume has doubled since then.

Just be sure to follow this rule- only ever unsubscribe from emails that you remember signing up for. Lots of spammers include an "unsubscribe" link in their email. Basically in that case you have now identified yourself as somebody who reads the spam far enough to get to that link.
So if you signed up for a Canadian Tire mailing list and no longer want it- go and unsubscribe. However random junk email- just move it to your junk folder. Let your mail filters handle the junk.

What a sad state of affairs...we moved away from real mail to electronic mail and yet the Junk just continues to follow.

I also think using the block/report spam features helps. Makes it more likely that they get auto-blocked for everyone in the future, which hurts their very sleazy business
