The Oilers have also not lost an overtime playoff game since game 2 of round 1 last season. 6 wins in a row and 6-1 over the last two playoffs. That is bound to even out over the long term, but hopefully corrects itself immediately.
For context, the Panthers are 3-3 over the last two playoffs.

It's not over till it's over, it's still anyone's series. But I am salty about the loss, and I'm still salty about that ####ing draft lottery 11 years ago.
My hope is that (obviously) the Panthers come back and win, and that Bennett gets the Conn Smythe. He's bound to get a few more goals and if he ends up in the mid-teens for goals in playoffs, that can seal the deal.
I'm going to go ahead and assume Wolf brining the Flames to 96 points was more fun to watch than Celebrini powering the Sharks to 52 points
Just like how the Flames squeaking in to the playoffs and winning a round against a geriatric Canuck’s team was more fun to watch than the Oilers bottom 5 finish in 2015…how’d that work out for us in then decade since?
I friggin hope to god we finish dead last this year and get to draft McKenna, then this entire franchise would actually have something to base itself around and look forward to.

I have a feeling even if they bottomed out, McKenna would not be a Flame.
It is written.

In the long run no. Its like saying "aren't you guys happy we got those two extra wins so we drafted Monahan instead of McKinnon". The Sharks will be back into real contention for the cup again with all their elite talent before the Flames. I'm sure the Flames will be a constant threat for the last wild card spot as is tradition though. Its thinking like this that keeps them constantly in the mushy middle. "just get in an anything can happen". When was the last time a Cinderella team won the cup.

Tkachuk must be battling extreme injuries still because I barely noticed him. The difference this series may come down to a healthy Drai vs. an injured Chucky.
Eh, I'm chilling. It's honestly freeing not caring about the result. It'll always be E=NG regardless if they win or not
I put money on Edmonton when they were down in the Dallas series, it's the only way I can tolerate what's going on (I'd still much prefer to lose my $100).

What the hell are you talking about? The Flames at one point had Prime time Elvis Lindholm, JG, Sean monahan, Bennet, Norris Gio, Tkachuk ,Hamilton etc.. They had bonified elite talent. Calgary just ####ed up the managing of the talent. ####.. at this point you can officially say kulak was a talent they ####ed up handling. Like how many ex Flames are doing well or on the cusp of well that the Flames mis managed? Calgary was a top 5 team year over year for like 5 years . Management just ####ed up in handling contracts.

F### that.
Flames make the playoffs, Vegas falls off a cliff and their pick wins the lottery and we still draft McKenna and get the best of both worlds.
Best of all you don't spoil that winning culture that's been developing in the room over this past season.
Did you even think that answer through or are you just obsessed with the Flames bottoming out at this point?

2019. And no, it’s not the type of thinking that keeps them in the mushy middle, it’s reality: the Flames were more fun to watch than the Sharks this year. That doesn’t mean the future is brighter for the Flames, but anyone living in some dream world that thinks the hope that it might turn around one day palatable while you’re paying money to watch your team get dominated night in and night out is probably needs a bit of a reality check. I grew up with Sharks fans and still know plenty, and the sentiment down there isn’t overly positive, and fans aren’t having much fun.
I don’t mind people advocating for a decade of misery on the hope it turns into 3-5 years of joy. But let’s not sugar coat it and pretend it’s anything but misery and that the people who are miserable now would be just as or even more miserable then. It sucks. Is it worth it? It can be. But it sucks. Even with a 1st overall pick.
Hardly any one shows up to games in San Jose these days.
They certainly have the talent, but it hasn't even come close to getting traction from a team perspective and it's hard to say if it will any time soon.
Always a gamble to take...
Personally I prefer acquiring all the unprotected firsts you can get and then either hoping they're a lottery ticket or using multiple firsts to move up to draft an impact player.
Meanwhile you promote a competitive culture in your dressing room regardless of how the roster looks.
I think the Flames current approach is perfect and we seriously need to exercise some patience and give it a chance to bear fruit which takes time.
