Tonight is literally 90% of why I struggle immensely to stay interested in the NHL. Excellent, emotional, back and forth hockey, just completely destroyed by chintzy and missed calls.

Frolik has been garbage.
Time to try Bennett with Tkachuk/Backlund.

Bennett may have been playing the best. But he is not and never will be Calgary’s best forward. There’s a difference. You are behind, you go with guys who have been proven to perform for you. :Peters has a pretty good feel for the game IMO.
I have seen coaches succeed by sticking with their best players at least as often as trying to change to ride a temporary hot hand.

I believe in the Jays.

That looked like a direct shot to Frolik's head

That 2nd line right wing position is still a big problem

If I take another break from hockey like I did from 2006-2013, this will be the reason why

Obviously bennett will never be the flames best player on a full season basis. but for 5 games in april he was consistently our only forward willing to play and to play effectively night in night out.
And there are times to send messages. we may disagree but I think sending a message in game 1 of 82 that passengers will not be tolerated and good play rewarded is the approach I would take

Pretty sure Monahan wanted to put that anywhere except where he did.

Except this isn't the first evidence that Bennett deserves a bump up.

The amount the Flames 'Flickr's the puck on zone entries and exits that they would be much better at it

Maybe. But bump up to RW, where he has played rarely and not that well? I’d rather see him at C if he’s going to change roles. And that’s not a mid game switch.
If Frolik is sucking, sure, change and see what happens. But I still think it’s too early to make that call.
