I think it's more the fact that all but like 5 posts are on the same topic. Maybe you want to expand your horizons and spread your posting around to a topic other than just Gaudreau? Either that or change your name to Gaudreauverthetop and just only post about Gaudreau.

Still a bit fuzzy on the first working day of their first bi-monthly pay period. I'm also alot lazy to formulate that.

The regular season starts on Oct. 12th, so every day from the 12th onward that he's not signed is a lost day.
As for numbers, it really depends on the length of the deal. If you figure he could sign a $6.5M whenever and get paid in full, he's losing about $36K a day in gross salary. On a 6-8 year deal he'd need to bring the AAV up about $5-6K for every day he sits out. So if he sat out a month, he'd need to bring the AAV up $150-200K for the length of the deal in order to recoup that money. Though there are negative consequences and risks with holding out, so he'd probably have to be confident he could get even more.

Bennett AND Brouwer didn't break 40 points last year, Brouwer is terrible for possession, Bennett is wildly inconsistent and I'm not sold that Monahan can quite carry a line by himself.
Bennett-Monahan-Brouwer would be the worst 1st line in the league unless Bennett explodes this year.
It's so funny how off the deep end this site is when it comes to supporting whatever narrative fits with the direction the team takes.

I don't think its the whole site, its just that there is a vocal minority who feel the need to push the team agenda and gang up on others who don't.

Yes, but they're less obnoxious about it.
Put it this way: if everyone else has an issue with you, the problem is likely not everyone else.

Could also be the random capitalisations of full words, the persistent use of only "best" and "worst" (and awful, elite, etc), and the "it's the board who is wrong! Not me!"
I dunno. You're right, maybe it's "tone"

Secondly, if you don't think Sam Bennett is going to have a much bigger impact on the Flames this year, then I invite you to watch him tonight. He's already been carrying around young Tkachuk and the veteran Brouwer in preseason games. He's been dominant every time he's been on the ice. Kid is going to have a breakout year.
|
I'm well versed on what Sam Bennett is/has done.
A breakout year is one thing but insinuating he could replace Gaudreau's production last season or the year before is too crazy not to call out. He might get there in a year or two but let's not kid ourselves into imagining he can make Johnny expendable. The Flames don't have the luxury of having a top scorer be expendable yet.

What I see as the bigger issue is; for someone who claims they are a better than average negotiator, you seem to miss what core item needs to happen in a negotiation. That is seeing what the other side has as concerns or issues. You are too hard-lined on your own stance to ever consider what others are giving you on the other side. Particularly within this thread. This makes me wonder if you could ever negotiate a damn thing to satisfactory completion.
AND yes, I also negotiate for my pitiful job.

Not at all what he said. Rather that we have an option to fill in in case Johnny isn't available.
I think it fair to say that everybody here knows we are always going to be a better team with Johnny than without, but if we need to be without him for a period of time because he and his agent are too focused on his personal wants (over the needs of the team), then we ride without him for a while.
So be it.

Not that any team has that luxury, but if there's any team that can weather the loss of a top scorer, the Flames are near the top of that list, since we scored a ton of goals:
Not to mention we will have excellent goaltending and improved neutral/defensive zone structure.

When you're trying to sign a player for the majority of his career, they have to look out for their own personal needs.
