Very good point. If he likes it here, he could very well sign a longer extension at a lower hit before he's an RFA. He is likely well aware the high salary next year is simply the price the flames need to pay to pry him out of Col.
On the other hand, if he doesn't like it in Calgary, he's gone rather quickly.
Given the situation in Colorado, I don't think we can count on any generosity of spirit from his camp when it comes to contract negotiations.
Not that there's much of a decision to be made, but I love that he turned the Canucks' offer down. Obviously it was a no-brainer to choose the Flames with their centre situation, but I love it.
I am pretty sure it has been confirmed in the press that the only offer he got was from the Calgary Flames.

That didn't happen. Assistant GM called it a bad scoop.

what ever else happens Feaster can be assured the Avs will look to screw him back if they get the chance, Svens agent is going to have a stronger hand knowing this
is he really worth that much we will find out if avs dont match, i dont think they will and they will have a 5-10 pick
A 5th or worse pick for ROR is a win for the Flames IMO. A loss would be either not being able to resign him in a couple years, or the pick being top 3
asst GM saying they didnt offer sheet a player - thats far from confirmation. I find it hard to believe he would come out and say "yeah we tried to screw colorado but ROR didnt want to play for us"

If he is the Flames best player that is a major concern for the team because that is not likely a very good team.
moon, I understand you're a rebuild guy. I honestly can't decide whether this is a rebuild move or not. He's young, he's performed well in the NHL, but the Flames give up a potential top 10 pick and a 3rd rounder.
