Lindholm isn’t really a setup guy. Don’t see him as a good fit in Washington.

Oh I guess that’s not official… but yeah absolutely that’s what I’m excited about.

He has had more than 40 assists in each of the last 2 seasons and more than 50 in his first year as a Flame. When he plays with Gaudreau/Monahan/Tkachuk/Toffoli his assist numbers are nice. All those players had their career high in goals when they played with Lindholm.

I'll take the risk of getting a temporary suspension and suggest this: what about Lindholm (50% retained) + Hanifin (50% retained) for multiple 1sts and 2nds and couple of prospects + Garland (for cap reasons) to Vancouver?

Meh I couldn't care less about loading up the canucks. I don't think they would trade us 1sts like we hope.

Dhaliwal was reporting that the Canucks are looking into "rewarding" the team for their results so far, and adding a center to be on their 2nd line. The Canucks (and their fans, including those on CP) have shown a penchant for overreacting to results without a large dataset, which is why with Dhaliwal's reporting, I'm wondering if something like what I suggested could happen.

I think it is the right idea, but the only thing stinky about it is that it bolsters the Canucks. I'm not adverse to trading with the Canucks if it is the best deal though.

Do it now. Perfect team that thinks they're good with a small sample size that will fall on their face. Go get a top 10 pick

Vancouver wants a third line centre, and someone on defense because they are running Cole and Friedman as their second pairing. Beauvillier has also been ineffective and in the doghouse, and Raty has taken a full year to get used to the NHL rink size.

I'd do Hanifin for a full reversal of the Horvat trade.

Beauvillier + Raty + 1st

This part is the key for me and why I want the Flames to deal with the Canucks. I actually haven't hated the Canucks since they got rid of the characters in Bieksa, Kesler, etc. so I wouldn't mind seeing the Canucks do well now, but IMO, their team isn't good enough and their current play is a mirage. But I lived in Vancouver for over 15 years and that market is as reactive and pre-mature as they come. Their owner is the same and if Dhaliwal (very reputable source in BC) is reporting that the org. is looking to reward the team on their play, it confirms that once again, they believe they've got something here after less than 10 games, so make the deal and be rewarded with a top 10 pick when this season is done.

They could use a guy like Horvat

I’d be happy to deal Hanifin to a rival. He’s a player that’s easy to play against. 0 worries about him ever being a difference maker in a future matchup against someone.

In the playoffs particularly. He's really soft.

I am fine with trading with the Canucks but doubt we would be getting a top 10 pick back. There are a lot of bad teams in the Pacific alone (San Jose, Calgary, Anaheim eventually) that should ensure they get a number of free bingo spaces on the schedule.

Trading with Vancouver would be great. Potential high pick, extra reason to see them lose, and if they re-sign its like a very average player eating up big salary.

Shouldn’t this tell us all we need to know for return expectations with him?

Also mind boggling he turned down that massive offer (if true). Insane overvaluation

After watching the latest sandbagger, I wonder if Vegas would give up a decent package for Hanifin. Best friends with eichel, fits their window of competing for another cup. Flames would have to take back some cap to make it work
