Really enjoyed Abigail this weekend.
Really scratches the same itch that Ready or Not (2019) did, and Alisha Weir is going to be a star. That kid can act.

Saw Twisters and it was a good movie, I would say it exactly meets expectations and was a good watch!
Haven't been since Top Gun: Maverick as I really only go to see movies that make use of the screens and sound. I would go again if they brought TG:M back, best theater experience I've ever had.

Twisters was funny.
5 minutes in and these storm chasers are doing exactly what you're taught not to do to survive a tornado on the side of the road.
At a few points I think they forgot to turn on the fans and/or real sprinklers and relied on CGI entirely to simulate these EF5 tornadoes which looked.. not very convincing.
I enjoyed suspending belief for a couple of hours.

I decided to check that out. I was kind of curious how it was received when it was released, and kind of surprised that it was appreciated early on for the parodying of society.
I don’t agree that Verhoeven was out or his mind, but Peter Weller seemed like something else - he reminds me of Avery Brooks in the Star Trek documentary, “Captains”. Kind of operating on a different plane of reality now.
I totally forgot that Ray Wise was one of the baddies in Robocop. He looked so different then.

Watched a 2017 movie I’d never heard of on Netflix.
Hostiles. Christian Bale, Rosamund Pike, Jesse Plemons, Jonathan Majors, Timothy Chalamet, Lucas from Empire Records, Ben Foster. Albeit it several of those actors in small parts.
1892, disgruntled army captain has to escort a Cheyenne chief from New Mexico to Montana but considers native Americans his enemy and is none too happy about it.
I thought it was excellent. Christian Bale is quite likely the greatest actor of my generation (now that DDL is retired). He plays every role perfectly. Rosamund Pike is great as usual and the strong supporting cast helps.
Like many westerns, it looks beautiful and although the story isn’t breaking any new ground, it’s very well done and I’d highly recommend it. Solid 8/10. Maybe even an 8.5.

Watched Robocop 2 and I actually enjoyed it. Wasn't nearly as good as the first one but I think it's a worthy sequel.

Recently watched The Prince of Egypt for the first time in ages. It definitely belongs on any top 10 animated movies list.
My daughter enjoyed it but commented on how sad it was. Had me thinking animated movies these days have a more happy positive tone compared to some of the darker more nuanced ones from my youth. I think I’m still traumatised from The Last Unicorn.

My God...thats a deep cut. Haven't thought about that movie in years but still, I cant believe they show that to children.

The Last Unicorn was my first ever favourite movie, so I reckon I must have been between 4 and 6 when I watched it. Not sure what age it'd be considered appropriate for now.
My next favourite one after that was the Dark Crystal, and I'd definitely hesitate to show that to a 5 or 6 year old now.
Standards have definitely changed.

I finished off the original RoboCop trilogy today with RoboCop 3. Again another step down from the previous one, but overall I had fun with it. I was surprised to see Frank Miller wrote it, he would have been perfect for a hard R version not the watered down version we got in 3. This is definitely a franchise that gets worse as it goes, hopefully the remake is decent.

I went to see Horizon with my brother last week. We both looked at each other half way through the movie and said this is boring. You had 3 separate stories that went nowhere and didn't make any sense.

ReWatched Urban Legends, such a fun 90s horror movie. While I love the new horror movies we are getting now I miss the fun from the 90s. Movies like I Know What You Did Last Summer, House on Haunted Hill, Faculty, Halloween H20, and of course the original Scream trilogy.

The remake is awful. I would just avoid that one if I were you.

I still love the Faculty. The first Scream was great, but the Faculty is easily one of my favourite horror flicks.

Oooh, the Final Destination movies are awesome! The first was great, and the second was just over the top it was perfect. I was a little disappointed in 3, but 4 stepped it back up, and 5 was great.
New one coming out next year.

As far as animated movies go, Disney's Beauty and the Beast was the first (and only traditional animated film) to ever be nominated for Best Picture.

Just watched The Great Escaper (Prime). Based on a true story of a WW2 veteran who escapes his nursing home to go to the 70th Anniversary of D-Day, in which he took part. Stars Michael Caine. I found it very moving; there are flashbacks but nothing horrific, if that turns you off.

Wanted something to watch while nibbling some Crumbl cookies. Ugh, was “Ghostbuster Frozen Empire” horribly boring. I felt nothing. Do not recommend.
“Lisa Frankenstein” however did a good job of pulling in those 80s nonsense movie vibes and being pretty enjoyable.
