They have to be absolutely insane. Both fans and management chased him out of town. I'd say there's a better chance he signs in Calgary than in Edmonton.
It gets better. "Find out if Hall is available" means at the trade deadline. As in, give up picks for him. As in, a first rounder.

And then, yeah. Hope that Hall is willing to re-sign in that market.

Post from HF Oilers

Quote:
Rishaug keeps talking about how the OIlers may have made promises to Pulju and his agent. How we've handled this kid would make a lot more sense if that was the case, wouldn't it? How we kept him on the NHL roster just long enough his first year to burn his RFA year off. How we seem to just keep him around twisting in the wind with no apparent direction. Was this kid promised min 41 games on the NHL roster each season for coming over when he could have made a good salary in Finland by developing there longer? His AHL salary is just 70k/season.

I really would not put it past this team, that has been just brutal at negotiating anything, to make a promise of NHL time to Pulju and his agent 3 years ago. Guess Pulju didn't have to sign the ELC right away. He could have done another year in finland, likely for better than the 70k AHL salary.

The cry is slowly rising to let the kid go home to Finland.

If they're in on Hughes, I think there's a good chance that 2019 keeps on giving. I don't know a thing about Hughes' personality, but a kid from Orlando likely isn't wooed by the promise of a great career in the City of Champions.

What'll be even funnier is if this is a lower pick than #1 that's refusing to report

Taylor Hall
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
Nail Yakupov
Darnell Nurse
Leon Draisaitl
Connor McDavid
Jesse Puljujarvi
...is a pretty extensive list of warning signs. 0% of those players are enjoying their Edmonton Oilers NHL careers.

You'd have to think it comes sooner rather than later

I wouldn't put it past Oilers management to draft the kid anyway.

I don't know where he fits on the roster, and the price would be way too high for a direct EDM-CGY trade... but I really want Puljujarvi in the Flames system.

His hockey IQ is low, but paired with a playmaker I think he has the skills to be pretty effective in a bottom-9 role. He'd definitely need some time in the AHL to learn some very basic facets of the game.

Primarily... I'd love to see a failed Oilers prospect find success with the Flames. Thought the same thing with Yakupov... and there's a never-ending list of possibilities. Puljujarvi, Bear, Yamamoto...

Nicholson reveals that since Glen Sather the Oilers have only looked at one person everytime they needed a new GM.

He pointed out that when it comes to hiring GMs, including the hiring of Glen Sather, the Oilers never conducted a wide search for a new GM. “With the Oilers, you go back all the way to Glen Sather, and how many people has this organization interviewed to name a General Manager? Through my research, it’s one person that they looked at…. Obviously it’s a mistake, as a I sit here today.”

Here is the catch: Puljujarvi has no interest in playing in the AHL, so it seems. He has got some skills and is a big, fast skating kid, but to add to an exceptionally low hockey IQ one can't help but wonder if Puljuhjarvi also harbours a strong sense of entitlement. I would want no part of that.

According to Hitchcock, this is the best that the Oilers can play. (TSN Article)

Hitchcock on wild-card race: 'We're playing the best'
https://www.tsn.ca/hitchcock-on-wild...best-1.1260615

Quote:
“We know we have to go on an a run. Of all the teams around there I feel like our team is playing the best. We’re not winning, but we’re playing the best. Eventually, it’s going to have to translate into wins. You can’t keep living off of, ‘We’re playing well.’ You have to take the next step, but five of the last six games are the best we’ve played in a long time.”
Best hockey = 6 wins in their last 26 games? Yowza.

Hard pass if what we're seeing in Edmonton is an attitude he wants to carry elsewhere, for sure.

I wonder how much of it is influenced by his situation in Edmonton and doubting the benefit of playing for their AHL team vs developing elsewhere

At best Puljujarvi is Sven Bartschi 2.0.

Entitled offensive player that may have some middling success on a team that lacks depth which forces him into the NHL lineup....

Oh wait, that's the Oilers to a T. Never mind.

With Chia and McDavid, there was a veneer of professionalism that you could point to and say "yeah, it looks like maybe they are turning things around", but now that it's reverted to the bad old days, I can't imagine there is an agent in the league willing to suggest Edmonton is anything but a worst case scenario location for their client to be traded or drafted to.

IMO, we'll see Hitch fired after the deadline, poolparty moved at the deadline, and McDavid moved prior to the draft.
0% chance they do that IMO.

I think it's a classic example of the oilers inability to develop players properly.

I don't know if he's a world beater but I think there is a top 9 shooter in there.

This is what I mean when I say agents around the league understand how deadly the oilers organization can be for players to get better and earn bigger money. There is an opportunity cost in going to the oilers.

Put pool party in an environment to help him improve, maybe a place with guys from his neck of the woods, might be worth taking a flyer on for the right organization.
