I'm trying to farm act 4 hell to get my dps up, stuck around 12k and 32k health, I keep hearing 20k dps and 50k health makes life tolerable in inferno.
My friends and I killed inferno Rakanoth last night. We were getting kind of frustrated because it seemed like the deaths we were getting were too rng to deal with, but we eventually came up with a solid and repeatable strategy. It was a supremely satisfying experience. We were running, DH, DH, barb. It felt good to have to rely on reaction times, tactics and solid teamwork to kill a boss.
I just started Inferno. This is going to take a while with my DH. Some of the yellow demons seem impossible for me to solo. They end up regenerating their health before I'm even able revive.
So...after a week off because my mobo/hd blew up, I try to download the game (due to a fresh OS install) and have been getting errors from Blizzard's "Agent" program. Can't even start downloading the frakking client. Their tech support didn't help, and now I'm stuck in queue with customer service.

Just want to play the damn game already!
If you have a 16 GB USB drive, you could go to someone's house who has it and they could transfer the files for you. Even if they have deleted the install package, just the files in c:\program files\Diablo3 will work, as it is a portable "install" and will just run from the drive w/o install.
If you are in the deep SE and are interested, I am home all day.

Anyone having trouble searching for gems in the auction house? I've tried every color and every quality but it won't give me any results.
Blizzard has disabled searching for gems for the last couple of days now, very annoying. the entire auction house is a mess right now, it's so laggy that you're lucky if you can even claim stuff that you've bought or gold from sells. and considering that Blizzard designed the loot drops in this game with the AH in mind (i.e. it's pretty much required to get anywhere in Inferno) it's a pretty big fail for them to have it fubar'd for so long
I am still very upset that they did not properly beta test this game. Essentially we have all been Beta Testers for the last few weeks and paid for it. The Lag and Auction House is just the start, but inferno difficulties, easy everything else is very concerning to me in what took a large gaming company 13 years to produce.
I didn't realize this but apparently, the items in the AH affect which items are dropped in game.

The auction house obviously provides an incredible service to allow for very easy trades between characters, and essentially blows out the wide range of items you could have available to you at any one time. So, in fact, the AH has to be a factor in how we drop items. On one hand you have a huge benefit because you can buy and sell items very easily, as opposed to having to post up WTS threads in the old USEast trading forums, but on the other end it does impact the item pool economy with the inherent ease at which you can trade items. If the AH existed but wasn't a factor at all into how items dropped/rolled, the economy would be completely tanked within a matter of weeks.
Its so messed up now, all the blues are selling for millions based solely on dps stat, much more usually than rares and this is what most people in inferno are doing farming for high dps stat items and making a killing.
Saw one guy on ownd3 tv who went from 2 million gold to over 12 million in 1 day, just farming on his WD act 4 one specific part which he death runs to and farms over and over.

Unless I'm misreading, that's not what it's saying.
All it's saying it's they accounted for the auction house (and the ease in getting gear from it) into account when they determined the drop rates. So pretty much they lowered the drop rate compared to what we may be use to in D2.
The pretty obvious consequence of that is the elite items wont oversaturate the market right away and they will be able to sell for relatively high in real world currency when they open it up. And once the majority of non-casual players get their elite top tier items and they fall down in price we'll get the new expansion. If Blizzard does it well they'll be close to printing off money, although it seems like they've already faltered heavily.
Anyways, I'm a level 60 Barb. Toyed around with different builds in Inferno. I've gone from mass vit (80K+ life) to high dsp (glass cannon) but I've had the most success with a defensive tank (800+ resistances, 65K life, 9000 armor or so with warcry). I've yet to solo act 2 but I occasionally join my friends in Act 3 or 4 and can kinda do something. I'm actually pretty pleased with the difficulty setting of Inferno for a Barb, it's definitely doable but very hard - exactly what a good game should be like. But because of all the complaints about how much easier other classes are I just started making a Demon Hunter to see how that is.

yea i wrote about the Ponies last week. As a 42 Wizard I could do normal ponies no problem . I tried NM ponies and they 1 shot me... It was pretty crazy.
So I was selecting my DH character in the main menu and my gf looks at me funny and says "did you put high heels on her?!" I looked at the screen and had nothing to say to that...
Blizzard knows their target audience in and out...
So THIS is the error 37 everyone was going on about. I had hoped waiting a few days before starting to play would avoid that issue. Which it had until this patch came out.
