If those picks were today it would be 36, 45, 49. Exciting.

Right now Rangers pick is 35, Ottawa 45 and Utah 49. In terms of pick value from some source I could find, 35+45 is worth around 25th overall. Also, in this years draft, I see it deeper rather than stacked at the top and to me the value of an early second and a late first is almost equivalent.
I think this is pretty good, especially with our scouting. I definitely think we will be trading at least one of these 2nds tho

If the draft was held today the Flames would be picking:
#4
#19(VGK)
#34(UTA < NYR)
#35
#46(UTA < OTT)
#49(UTA)
#64(VAN)
#67
*The ~15th pick by OTT is going to be forfeited, so some of the picks are 1 pick higher.
That's 6 picks in the top 50, and 8 in the top 67. I don't remember the Flames ever having that many picks. And they're not done yet, there's still Kadri, Coleman, etc.

We're going to need another AHL affiliate once all these picks turn into players.

I think some people are underestimating how bad Weegar has been this year and how that has impacted his perceived value.

Seems good to me. Helps the tank, gets us younger and opens up a sot, adds draft capital. All the things everyone complained we weren’t doing. Now we do it and there’s still complaints it wasn’t enough lol.

This move probably also solidifies Brz in the bigs.

Overall I'd still rather have Utah 1st and one of the 3 seconds.
Overall the trade is just lacking a quality piece.
Dickinson got a 1st + a cap dump.
Feels like Weegar should have been able to get a 1st.

I, for one, am whelmed. Which should be the feeling for the vast majority of trades. They can’t all be steals.

According to puckpedia:
Those 3 - 2nds and where NYR, OTT and UTA are right now is equivalent to the 18th overall pick. (if I added correctly!)
Add CGY's 2nd and it = 13th overall pick. (4 picks for 1 pick trade)

This guy is 20?!? Looks like he’d drop off his 20 year old son at college.

I love that the flames have at least 8 picks in the top 65 this year. With it being a particularly good defensman draft I am happy if they load up on both centers and d this year.

God Damn! 6 picks in the top 50?!
Again - the biggest strength of the franchise for the past few years has been our drafting. Really top notch leveraging that.
