Looks like rinks around Calgary are starting to shut down. Just heard Great Plain has (City Rink).

Yes. Daley was very insistent next year is a full 82 games but he also stated that playing 82 games was important period. I think that goes for this year as well. I think the plan is to finish the regular season this year even if it pushes playoffs into late July, even possibly August. I would very surprised if there is any hockey this season again unless they can finish the regular season. I know people like to spitball about different ways to give teams a chance to get in that differ from the norm but I don't see it.

I think that's the goal, but I'd also interpret it that they're open to a shortened regular season scenario for this year.
I think all of this is moot, I think we'll likely see no return to sports this season (hope I'm wrong).

Flames owners continue to pinch their pockets.
Horrible look for the franchise when players and owners everywhere else are doing the right thing.

Stop being idiots in a time of crisis and uncertainty. Flames owners can easily afford to keep their support staff afloat; whom I imagine some are feeling stressed about the current situation alone. With the NBA having PLAYERS and teams come out saying they will cover lost wages for their employees, how can Flames owner miss that boat? Looks awful optically.
Just because you don't legally have to, doesn't mean it's not the right thing to do.

The Jets and Oilers ownership has been getting a lot of heat over the same thing. Especially the Jets since one of their owners is the richest person in Canada.

Im probably wrong on this, but whose to say they don't have a package in place, or working on one?

I'd hope so. Just leaving them with nothing for at least a month at minimum when they were expecting to work and be paid for it within the timeframe would be very tone deaf.

Seven home games left (Flames anyway) although I guess there's the Roughnecks and Hitmen as well.

So it looks like Calgary Sports & Social, is one of the only active sports leagues still playing.

Calgary Herald reporter has the email. Let's see how the Flames respond. Personally, while I'm disappointed this is what the Flames chose, I am not at all surprised given their post-Mr. Hotchkiss behavior.

Good thing we gifted the owners all that money for the arena. The flames have put the ass in class for a long time.

Haven’t been down to the ‘dome since I gave up my Hitmen season tickets a couple of years ago.
This just guarantees that the Flames organization (CSEC) never ever gets another dime from me.

I'm surprised they aren't charging season ticket holders the money they would spend on concessions while at the games.

I can't even believe that players are having to step up in the first place. The owners of these franchises have the cash to pay these people. I don't follow a ton of basketball, but that Zion Williamson is a rookie who clearly doesn't have as much money as they owners, and he steps up to do the right thing? Good on him and all, but that's just ridiculous.
And to think these people have the nerve to come to the cities and ask for cash for us to build them arenas and stadiums. The audacity is simply stunning.
