did you watch? Calgary wasn't dominated like the Oilers were against the Ducks...they just had a pylon in goal

Calgary needs to find their Talbot

so you're suggesting Calgary play like sht for a decade in order to land as many lottery picks as possible? and hope and pray we get 4 #1s 2 #3s and pray that there's a generational talent during those ten years?

I hope the Flames organization is NEVER like the Oilers the last ten years.

Absolute embarrassment to the game of hockey and made a GD mockery of the NHL and their idiotic draft lottery system.

No thank you

I truly feel sorry for anyone who wastes their time and energy that contributes to this narrative over the next decade--as eventually it'll grow old and tired. I don't care how the Oilers got to where they are, bottom line is the Flames aren't even close to contending. I watch the Oilers because they're my wife's team and they're fun to watch--meanwhile the majority of this forum watches because deep down you wish you had some of the pieces they do! I know I do! Let me know when we have a 97, 29, 77, 19, or 33 please!

Uh one team went out in the first round, one in the second.

You are really spinning your wheels here with this breakdown.

There's just nothing sadder than signing up to a forum as a rival fan pretending to be something otherwise. Must be a pretty upsetting night for you to have it all unravel after tonight's crushing disappointment. lol

See this tells me you really don't watch Flames games, or if you do, you aren't very good at it. The difference between Flames and Oliers is a decent goalie, thats it. Swap goalies, and Flames take Ducks to 7 and Oilers are easily swept in 4. Simple as that. And all that without the need to be worse than crap for a decade and luck out on getting 4 first overall picks.

Serious question:

How can the Flames "take a page out of the Oilers book" when they got there by being as ####ty as any team in professional sports has ever been? Over a ten year span no less?

You call it a 'narrative'; we call it Fact

Fact: the Flames can't just 'take a page out of the Oilers book" because the two lynch pins for that team aren't guys manufactured out of thin air...

People are criticizing you because you make it sound like all the Flames have to so is adjust their game either system wise or philosophically wise.

its neither... in order to get a generational talent, you pretty much need to win the draft lottery... or 4 in the Oilers' case

The Flames were 1-12 against those two teams this year. And you knew that's what he was talking about.

It wasn't even close.

now this is trolling...FFS YOU are the one that said the Flames should take a page out of the Oilers book

Oilers could win 10 cups in a row and that is still a ridiculously stupid statement

They won the ####ing lottery! how do you take a page out of that

Who cares? Teams all have certain match-ups tilted in certain years. At the end of the day, the overall record tells the story.

IF Calgary can get a goaltender to match Talbot they are at least as good as the Oilers....hopefully its a productive summer on that front

damn...

and to think if we just managed to squeek out a win or two more against those guys we'd actually be better than them?!

sounds close to me...

you seem to forget the Flames had a new coach, new system, new goaltenderS at the start of the year... our season series vs the Oilers ended before calgary turned their season around...

Elliott caused the 4-0 series result; calgary was in a number of those games but lost because of awful goaltending
