the oilers won two more games in the 2017 playoffs then the flames did in 2015... so whoop de do to you my friend.

the oilers are such media darlings, no wonder their fans are so darn full of themselves... there is more press about edmonton losking in the 2nd round then the senators making it to the third. edmonton could miss the next 10 years (again) still the pres would be on there knees begging for it

This has to be possibly one of the worst posts I've seen on this board for a long time. Were you recently revived from a coma that lasted 11 years? Just curious

Oilers were DOMINATED much of the series and Talbot kept them in it....how great they were?

Blew a 2-0 series lead and Blew a 3 goal lead with 3 minutes left!

He gave credit to the Oilers for a tough series. But then he pointed out that his team didn't seem to get much respect from the media over the course of the series, particularly from the Canadian press. And that there are two teams out there, not just one. He then said something like "we have 4 or 5 young talented players who played really well too", and that they should get more credit for their efforts.

I find it amusing that anyone who brings objectivity to this forum is criticized. Was tired of the narrative on HF and thought the CP was a better platoform--but anyone with average to above average hockey intelligence knows the Oilers took a huge step forward and will be legit contenders for many years to come. The Flames have a lot of work to do this summer to compete--period. If you want to hang your hat on the "Oilers sucked for 10 seasons to be good" argument then knock your socks off--but nobody remember how bad the Pens were pre Crosby. I would encourage everyone on this forum to shift their visceral towards the Oil and perhaps evaluate their own team. Goodnight and Go Flames!

I think the Oilers can walk away from the series with their head held high. They came really close against one of the strongest teams in the league. The learning experience in the playoffs will be a huge factor in years to come.

So do you actually have any suggestions for what the Flames should do or is your post just entirely diatribe?

Thank you.

Talbot was their MVP this year, not McDavid. But Oilers faithful are too blind to see it and form the line to buy 97 jerseys and chant MVP.

Absolutely no clue.

You are being criticized for saying the Flames should take a page out of their book...they literally won the lottery 4 times

do you tell your kid to work hard and get an education or be like so and so and and just go win the lottery and retire....he did it why can't you

contenders for years to come? who the fack knows

Not really. The Oilers are basically Talbot, McDavid, Draisaitl...and not much else. The only reason they were even in the playoffs this year is because of Talbot standing on his head and a whole lot of gifted late-game PPs. They also lucked out in round 1 by drawing the easiest match up in the West with a very mediocre and banged up Sharks team.

I don't know--they couldn't compete with the Oilers or Ducks this season--and it really wasn't even close. Not nearly enough depth up front and would like to see them add a couple guys who play an honest game like Maroon and Kassian. More consistent goaltending would help so having a Plan B is necessary.

Getting first picks overall by being terrible or unbelievably lucky has been fundamentally important to getting the Oil to where they are right now. The Flames should not be duplicating that strategy.

For the Flames to take the next step, they need to shore up the goaltending situation and bring in some support for Gaudreau.

After watching two rounds of oilers playoff hockey that team is entirely made up of Talbot. Take him off the team and they are drafting top five again. Again, he kept them in a have where they scored a fluky goal and were dominated for the majority of the game.

I think Flames fans know what it is like to be carried by a goaltender.
