After they didn't show up yesterday for appointment number 6, I'm seriously wishing I would have rented the equipment at home depot and just done it myself. This hasn't taken less time, and at least it would have gotten done.

Used the Living Social coupon for the Himalayn on Saturday night. What a fantastic restaurant. Great food, great service and even without the coupon the prices were pretty reasonable. Definitely will be back!

Another one bites the dust. I bought "Green Co." 4hrs of house cleaning two months ago... surprise surprise, now out of business (according to one link I read), but their phone line is disconnected for sure.
Hopefully dealfind will refund me...
I think I am staying away from all of these except the restaurant gift certicate one's!
This new fad has sure weeded out some bad companies, a good read about it here:

Awesome, I called dealfind but they said I had to send an e-mail, so I've sent the email and I'm waiting for a reply (other than the auto-reply).

Here is an interesting article, Why Groupon is Poised for Collapse. The related articles are interesting as well.
I do believe that this is a fad that will die off.

UPDATE: got my refund, dealfind was very easy to deal with.
^^ I think this fad will decline, but won't go away, it'll soon just be gyms and nail salons and the occasion restaurant $20 for $40 of food...
I think the services one's (maid cleaning, landscaping, car detailing, oil changes, etc)are learning the hard way about giving one thousand deals over a weekend

Thanks for the update on the refund. I'm glad it worked out for you.
Based on their IPO filing, Groupon is losing $117 million per quarter and only has $208 million in cash. Their profitability is based on them growing. If their volume goes down, they will cease to exist.
It will be interesting to see what happens with them.

That's interesting, I figured on the Groupon end it would be pure profit. They take 50% of the profit and don't do anything. Advertising is word of mouth referal based. They must have a messed up expense structure somewhere.
The biggest weakness in groupon is that they aren't really anything other than a mailing list. Other than that list anyone can set up the identical company.

I believe that they have very aggressive sales people too. I seem to recall this from some of the articles I have read.
I am not too familiar with what an effective sales staffing point would be, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a full time sales person dedicated to Calgary alone.

That's not really true. Groupon spends a ton of money on web display ads and google adwords. I see their ads everywhere online, and I'm already signed up, so those impressions are wasted $$.
Also, they have commission salespeople. Here: http://answers.onstartups.com/questi...-groupon-using
indicates that their salespeople are bringing down 36k + 2-3% commission to start, which is a few bucks on some of those deals that sell thousands of vouchers.
Also, there is staff at head office in Chicago that writes all the banter they put on each deal. I'm not sure what stand up comedians make when they get day jobs, but there's a cost there.
And finally, the referral process. They've been having more and more generous promotions to get new sign ups, probably trying to juice revenue for their IPO.

No, that's not the score of a game with Luongo in net, it's the number of successful lawn servicings by JR and the number of appointments.
I'm happy to report that they did come yesterday evening, and did a good job. We were at the daily phone call stage, so I'm glad that's over with.

Today only $20 (Reg $60) Nautica dress shirts at The Bay and online.
I need some new dress shirts - ties are also on sale.
They only have a few colors online. Not the fanciest dress shirt but good for the M-F 9-5 work guy.
Update: Alot more colors in the store - not alot of 17 necks if you are of that size, lots of 15 though. I picked up 4.
