I still think Kulak's numbers say more than Culkin's. Kulak plays in a notoriously defensive league and he's a PPG as a defenseman. What's more, he plays on a crappy rebuilding team. His skating is also beautiful. Almost Brodie-like.

Culkin, on the other hand, had an opportunity to turn pro if he could show management he deserved to in training camp, but he didn't. He was sent back for further development. Also, Culkin's had the benefit of playing on good teams.

I too hope they both get signed, if for nothing more than to simply see what they look like as pros. I just think Kulak is the better prospect.
Did you get a chance to watch Kulak at all when he was playing for the heat last year?

Yep, saw all of his games. He looked like a rookie, of course, but his skating is very good. He's got the foundation to become a slick, smooth skating d-man. Like I said, he was Brodie-like.

Kulak also has the best shot of all our current d-prospects so there is that factor as well.

Totally agree. Kid is underrated. Best D prospect we have since Brodie.

If anyone is still following the Reinhart vs Kabanov debate, the Isles just assigned Kabanov to Sweden

I remember when EE said taking Reinhart instead of Kabanov would come back to haunt the Flames.

Reinhart has 51 pts in 101 AHL games.
Kabanov has 12pts in 48 AHL games.

Boston College is playing their cross-town rivals, Boston University.

The score is currently 3-1 for the Eagles, about halfway through the second.

Gaudreau has the third goal, to keep his point streak alive at 17 games. Arnold and Hayes got the assists on Johnny's 20th goal of the season, and only his 4th PP goal.

I think it was Boomer on the FAN 960 who also hated that was past on Kabanov for Reinhart.

Ha! BC was up 5-4 late in the third, so BU pulled their goalie. Johnny got the puck at center ice with his back to the BU net and flipped it down the ice from his backhand, and it goes in. 6-4 final.

Johnny with 2G to move to 21G/21A in 22 games.
Arnold with 1A in the game.

Elsewhere in the NCAA: MSU played, but DeBlouw did not. Yale and Colgate both played, but no points for Agostino or Harrison.

Providence is in Colorado this weekend, so their games are later starts. Tonight's game just started. It is still scoreless early in the first.

it's getting ridiculous. 17 game point streak with 18 goals and 16 assists ... give that man the Hobey Baker already! Too bad for him that his plan to play with his brother hasn't really worked out, as Matthew has only played 3 games so far.

Culkin had an assist in a 2-0 win. Poirier is scoreless as Gatineau is down 6-3 late in the 3rd.

I'm sure the Gaudreau brothers knew that "playing together" probably wasn't going to mean Matt playing in too many games. They still get to spend time together off the ice and enjoy the College experience together (which, I bet is pretty nice for Johnny right now).

Drafted one spot after Max Reinhart.

Unfortunately, it's a PPV: http://www.cctigers.com/showcase/

PC had a powerplay in the first where they had 10 shots on goal. The first was scoreless, and the second is just about to start.

Ok but what is his connection with Max? He wasn't drafted by the Oil or Nucks.

Because the Flames didn't have a first or second rounder that year, people focused on players who were likely to be available in the middle of the third round, and he was one that people focused on as the target for the Flames.

As usually happens, when he was still available at the Flames pick, those people were upset that the Flames took Reinhart. Then, they were even more upset that he was drafted immediately after by the Islanders.

As you may have noticed, some people freak the hell out when things don't go the way they wanted them to. I assume that happened in this case.

EDIT:

Here are the only two threads I can find. No spectacular freak outs, but the Russian kid seems like he has an attitude problem (don't they all?):
