I'm still critical of his setups, like having 5 defenders today.
I must say though, huge credit to Jordan Henderson, he's been massive in Gerrard's absence, we'll see how he does against some big clubs.

I believe in the Jays.
|
I think 5 at the back was mainly due to lack of other options though. With the injuries at the time it was a struggle to get enough midfielders and forwards to fill out the lineup. He has said 4 at the back is his preferred formation.
I think his best asset has been his ability to learn and adapt. He has made a number of mistakes, but has seemed to make adjustments and get better for it. That was the opposite of AVB, which was probably why he got sacked despite his talents.

I'm still trying to figure out what sort of accent he has developed. It's definitely unique. Credit where credit is due though for his handling of Suarez.

Same. And it wasn't awesome.
The de Boer twins were mentioned a while back as a marker for age. Jeez I just about remember the van de Kerkhof twins and the start of the 78 WC final.
Also remember a Canadian playing in one of United's most important ever victories. Answers on a postcard please .....

Its still hilarious to me that David Moyes goes from middling Everton to mighty United and Everton are looking down on him in the standings...

ya I don't think it lasts though, my guess right now is the top 6 everyone thought coming in to the season are going to end up as the top 6 at the end in some order
form is temporary but class is permanent
there's just too big a gap for the rest of the top sides and Everton outside of Lukaku, Pienaar, Barkley, and Baines

More suitors for Spurs.
Quote:
Netherlands head coach Louis van Gaal has told NOS he would be interested in managing in the Premier League amid reports he and Carlos Queiroz are targets of Tottenham Hotspur.
"I've always said I want to work in the Premier League eventually, so there's a chance. There are times a deal is announced and there are times it's in preparation. At that time there's no time for media. But everyone who knows me knows I won't do a job share."
Meanwhile, former Manchester United assistant Queiroz, who is now head coach of Iran, has suggested he is interested in replacing his Portuguese compatriot Villa-Boas.
The Daily Star Sunday quote him as saying: "Tottenham is a club I really appreciate a lot and I have great admiration for. One of my coaching dreams is to get back to English football."

From the beeb live reporting.
2103. TOTTENHAM LATEST: An update on its way from across north London where Tim Sherwood is expected to be confirmed as manager at Tottenham 'beyond the end of the season' in the coming minutes.
2112.TOTTENHAM REACTION Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said: "We were extremely reluctant to make a change mid-season, but felt we had to do so in the club's best interests.
"We have a great squad and we owe them a head coach who will bring out the best in them and allow them to flourish and enjoy a strong, exciting finish to the season.
"We are in the fortunate position of having within our club a talented coach in Tim Sherwood. We believe Tim has both the knowledge and the drive to take the squad forward."
SPURS APPOINT TIM SHERWOODConfirmed then. Tottenham have named Tim Sherwood as manager until the end of the 2014-15 season.

those two are linked
if Sherwood doesn't work out they go after someone in the summer (FDB, Van Gaal etc.) who don't want to leave in mid-year or before a WC

Good Ol' DiCanio.
Quote:
Paolo Di Canio has revealed how he once turned down an approach from Sir Alex Ferguson to play for Manchester United, saying that he could never have turned his back on West Ham.
"It was Christmas and I got a call on my phone, and it was Ferguson," Di Canio told Italy's Fox Sport.
"You could tell from his voice that he had been drinking and he asked me if I wanted to join Manchester United.
"I then said no. I was captain of West Ham and I couldn't accept."

I'm headed to the Boleyn Ground for West Ham Arsenal. Not too many hopeful hammers for this game, but should be a good game if West Ham can stay strong at the back and not get torn apart in midfield. Apparently Allardyce is going to try and copy Mourinho’s tactics from the other night so this could get ugly.
Oh well. Weather seems decent, if it is a bit cool. Now if only the trains were running and the district line didn't have service interruptions. At least there isn't a tube strike like last year.
