Jankowski is definitely showing that he has that special skill set that could be a top line center. Dare we say a more offensively gifted player than Monahan? No where near as good two way player,at this point, but a very nice compliment to Monahan. Some incredible goals early on this year should get Flames fans drooling at the prospect of Monahan, Jankowski, Backlund and Knight as our centers in a couple years, and many years to come.
I have argued this before as well - Jankowski has the highest ceiling amongst the current centers - including Monahan. Monahan at this point is a much better prospect, but the more you watch Jankowski, the more that ceiling becomes apparent I think. Really hope he continues developing and keeps putting on some size.

That goal looked like the clip we all saw of Jankowski in a High School game, post draft. We all loved the clip but thought "can he do that against College players?"
He's now starting to fully adapt to the College game, this is such a major step in his development. Moving from Canadian High School hockey, skipping a US prep program and jumping right into the College system is huge. Last year was a year of many firsts for him and now he's starting to put it all together.
It's still really hard to predict where he'll end up but he is far and way one of the most exciting/interesting Flames prospects.

I was wondering why Providence would abbreviate to MIH, turns out it stands for Men's Ice Hockey
Anyways I don't see how Jankowski can be labelled as a boom/bust pick anymore. The boom potential is certainly still there but the biggest knock against him in his draft year was that he pretty much played rec hockey going into the draft. Given 3 or 4 years to adjust to a higher level of hockey really lowers that bust potential
Plus, even if he doesn't pan out as a top 6 center he can still play in the NHL. A center with a good two-way game, great size, good speed, and great hockey sense? Doesn't sound like a player that is likely to bust (relatively speaking).
5 pts in 5 games with 2 ridiculous goals is a great start to his second year. Gilles stats are even more spectacular, hopefully they both play a 3rd year so they can compete for a national championship

yup. I'm just glad that both he and Gillies (who had first committed to Northeastern) chose Providence, it seems like a really good programme there. Nate Leaman is a tremendous coach ... I believe Providence just gave him a contract until 2020 or something, so that speaks values. He gave Gillies the chance to be a starter as a freshman and eased Janko in by putting him on the wing in his freshman season before switching him to center. Seems to work pretty well so far ... always great when your top prospects are in a good system. Seems like Janko is slowly putting it together, can't wait to see how he develops in the next years.

They might get that chance this year.
They were ranked 8th going into this week and just had a win and a tie against #3 Miami.
They might pass both Miami and BC (currently losing 6-1) after this week.

28. Blatant Jon Stewart rip-off: Here is your moment of Zen if you didn't see it, Flames fans. Mark Jankowski, your 2012 first-round draft pick, scoring a ridiculous NCAA goal last week. One question was his skating, and word is it is getting better. Not yet there, but improving.
