Best thing about tonight’s Toilet Bowl match-up is that the Sharks have zero pressure whatsoever and are probably feeling pretty good after getting that first win out of the way. They’ll be hungry to get another one.

Meanwhile the Oilers have pretty much all the pressure in the world on them right now and one little mistake or goal against could completely break them and send them spiraling.

Would love a San Jose blowout.

Eventually mcteam will pile up some wins so the further behind the 8 ball they get the better.

A playoff miss and draisaitl has to be looking at his UFA options.

3.7 payout on PlayAlberta if the Sharks win. Potential $100 in my pocket if the Sharks win. Knowing the wonder twins, they'll actually show up offensively tonight and put up a 5 points -4 kind of evening. But I hope some kind of early goal breaks the oilers.

Draisital isnt going to commit to anything, Oilers will be handcuffed in trading him next summer when he stays undecided.

Early Sharks PP goal, followed by some Edmonton pressure resulting in 5 shots and no goal, turnover, rush goal by Sharks, 2-0.

If that happens, the Oilers will fold immediately and it will be great.

Or even better, they roll with mcdrai into his final year and bank on him loving connor and the river valley so much that there's no way he walks.

It seems pretty obvious after last playoffs' series against Vegas that it's pretty easy to get the Oilers to unravel:
  • Forecheck hard to cause giveaways and create rushes
  • Check hard, early and often on McDavid and Draisaitl. Do it as cleanly as possible. Make them have to physically push back. They won't be able to.
  • Get Kane in the mix to get him unfocused and undisciplined.
Profit.

It does help when it is Vegas doing that as opposed to Calgary. Some of the calls that Vegas gets likely won't go Calgary's way. Just IMO.

I don't think so, I think Pissy is about the cash and they will make moves to get it done. McDavid on the other hand is definitely bolting

I was more pointing to the Vancouver loss where TJ Miller was allowed to mess with McDavid for funsies and all #97 did was fight with his gloves on. Teams are learning.

The best case scenario would be Draisaitl signs a new contract with the Oilers at 14M~ AAV and McDavid walks.

Former Flame (and Oiler) Frank Musil's kid. He was drafted 2nd round, 31st overall in 2011. Pre-draft scout rankings he was 23rd by The Hockey News, 27th by ISS, 33rd by The Scouting Report, and 38th North American skater by CSS. Drafting David Musil was not a crazy, off-the-board reach at 31st.

I am actually fine with them managing to sign both. They couldn't even build a team around them in their primes at good cap hits lol

I am fine with Draisaitl signing an 8 year, 115 million dollar contract too.

Really hoping Mcdavid walks and Drai stays. Drai is easily one of the dirtiest players in the league with all of his slew foots and spears. He deserves to rot away in Edmonton and they deserve a face of their team like him. He is the embodiment of that organization

Hope they both sign long-term in Edmonton. Those two are going to fall off a cliff post 30. They deserve each other. Imagine that fanbase tearing them apart. Its already kinda started

Just heard Staufer on the radio… just painful to listen to that guy. He’s is such a homer and no matter what the question… he tries to make an excuse for the oilers and say they are better than what their record shows. And how confident he is they are about to turn it around.

It’s hilarious to hear how much these oilers homers are out of touch with reality.

I'll agree that they are better than what their current record shows, but they are no where near a top contender like the SportsNet talking heads wanted you to believe. In my mind they were always a team that could miss the playoffs, even the year they went to round 3. They are a team that could ride on the backs of the talented McDavid and his sidekick Leon, but beyond that they weren't any good.
