I don't think this is a tactic. We're walking away.

That Valimaki price could drop before the deadline and the pressure gets put on Dorion, then Flames could go back in.

That is just ridiculous. Should the season just be stopped now and Tampa can have the cup? What a weird losing mentality to have.

I'm not advocating a Valimaki trade, but the assertion that there are other fish in the sea like Mark Stone is significantly wrong.

Happy to hear the Leslie update. No issues with this, especially with the price being so high.

if vegas, nashville, or nyi are paying up a valimaki caliber piece, then you laugh and let your young, second place team keep doing their thing

When Ottawa comes crawling back tell them they can have Valimaki if they throw in Tkachuk.

Fair enough.
But people have been talking like he's the greatest RW to ever play the game. The hype has been staggeringly ridiculous...and all because of an arbitrary date in Feb.
He is a great player, no question but he isn't Wayne Gretzky circa 1982.

Only if they take Neal too.
Has to happen now to make sense.

Honestly.... Stone is a rental.
The ask was was beyond reality. Valimaki has more value than Stone by himself, with no sweetener. Happy Tre walked away.

Totally fine with not overpaying for Stone, signed or not. Would have been happy to add one of the 2nd tier pieces (Hayes Zuccarello Nyqvist) but I believe in what we have. Hopefully Neal sees his spot in danger with Czarnik showing well and it lights a fire under his ass for the playoffs.

He's probably as good as any player that's ever been available at the deadline.

It’s not ridiculous. What’s ridiculous is selling the farm for a rental in a year where one team is ‘heads and shoulders’ ahead of the rest.
If Columbus don’t win the cup then They’ve hamstrung themselves for the next few years...and THAT is ridiculous.
Do nothing Tre.

If Ottawa insisted we give up Valimaki for a rental, they have lost their damn mind.
