We are second in the NHL. Not making a panic move is the right play.

Walk away from Stone know, go after him July 1st. Treliving laid plenty of groundwork and Stone knows they're serious about him. Cost is just too high for a potential rental.

I wonder if it's coming down to a specific player? Perhaps the Sens insist it's Valimaki and the Flames won't budge and are offering Kylington? Maybe the Sens want Dube and the Flames refuse to include him?

No issue with this. Shows they won't panic and make a bad deal

The ship has sailed on that.
No way they figure things out in less than 4 hours on something that significant.

For a team that's in 2nd place overall and has played well for majority of the season. I'm glad Tre isn't trigger happy and pulling deals that could cripple the team in the future.

Flames could make some noise in the playoffs with or without Stone. This year is gonna be a good test in the playoffs but not one to burn assets on a rental. Flames need better goaltending if they want to win it all.

The deadline isn't over. Even if he doesn't get Stone Treliving still has time to make the team better.

McKenzie says the deal breaker for Calgary is that he was hearing the Sens were insisting that Valimaki had to be part of the package.

The thing is, even though the Flames are 99% out on Stone right now, we also know they were very close to getting him and, therefore, very interested in him. It follows that if something changes, ex: Ottawa reneges on its demand of Valimaki (Bob McKenzie), they could again become very interested very quickly.

I can see the logic in doing nothing. Winnipeg, San Jose, and Columbus went all in, and still probably don’t get past Tampa. Might be better to wait this year out and admit that the Lightning are too stacked. Come back next year when the playing field is a little more even.

I think this is negotiation tactics by the Flames trying to get Ottawa's price down. With Winnipeg out of the equation i think Ottawa will lower the price and Calgary will come up a bit to a compromise and Stone will be a Flame.
