I still go back to the Greg Gilbert Flames that had an amazing first quarter of the season, and then teams figured them out and they tipped into the poopy filled toilet water.

The Canucks and Oilers will eventually get brown.

I do think this is the year the Oilers finally draft in the double digits again, which has to count for something. Way too early to think playoffs, but they'll be good enough to avoid thinking about Nolan Patrick.

Edmonton bylaw officers are fuming after an Edmonton Oilers pre-game video prominently featured player Jordan Eberle dangling his feet over the "End of the World," something they have worked to discourage for years.

“It's going to degrade the efforts we've made, with all of the enforcement we've put in place,” said Sgt. Greg Komarniski, with the City of Edmonton's community standards branch

The “End of the World” is a local name for a series of abandoned concrete pilings left from the long-closed Keillor Road located at the top of the river bank on Saskatchewan Drive..

Don't think Elliott said anything. Jake Allen made those comments.

I hope you are right. But whereas the Canucks seem a little fortunate to me, the Oilers are showing they are capable of playing some good hockey. You can't be too shocked since even on paper, it seemed they improved the club.

I don't really care if they are terrible. I just dont want to see them having too much success.

Prior to last season I made a hefty wager with an Oiler fan regarding whether they would make the playoffs within the next 2 seasons. He said they would, I obviously said they wouldn't (this was immediately after they won the draft lottery). He msg'd me today asking if the bet can be rescinded, citing gambling was no longer his forte and the fact he isn't completely sold on them, thinks they are still a year or two away. Some oiler fans aren't as foolish as their colleagues.

I said we can of course but for a price, 40% of the total wager. He declined and said if I change my mind at any time of the season let him know. Pretty much a win win for me.

I still don't think they make it even after this start.

Apparently Bob Stauffer says the Oilers are going to go hard for Brent Burns

Do they even have the cap space for that? I don't think Burns' son would be pleased with this.
