Chinook movie theatre (at the east end of the old food court). They showed Raiders of the Lost Ark there for three years running. A buddy of mine worked there at the time and he said he it drove him mental.

The old Corral drive in was on the west side of Macleod trail, where the bus barns are now at Anderson station.
And at Southcentre, even before the theatres were there, when the Safeway was still on the south side, there was a huge ALCB store where Sport Chek is. Only place in the far south to get booze IIRC.

I lived in Ogden until I was six and then the family moved out of Calgary. I remember an old airplane sticking out of a building like it had crashed. Is that still around?
- Also really miss 200-2006 when Vietnamese Subs tasted a lot better. Is it me, or have they gone downhill?
- Also miss the Warehouse nightclub. And I remember being in elementry school and really wanting to go to the night club "The Palace" which is now "flames central" and awful.

There was an ALCB store at the north end of the old Macleod Mall where Woolco (now Wamart) used to be.
When I was a kid, I was a "southie" living in the Deer Ridge/Deer Run area. Some stuff I remember was:
1. TWO video game stores near me. One had a Super Famicom that you had to pay to play (5 dollars for 15 minutes or so). One was Pro Players and I'm trying to remember the name of the other one. I actually ran into the old owner of the store, Chad. I somehow still had the membership in my wallet 10 years after they closed, lol.
2. Lazer Illusions: Southcentre was the Mecca growing up, they had a huge setup near where the police station now is.
3. Waterslide on Macleod was amazing.
4. Chi Chi's. I'm sure I'd hate it now, but loved their chimichangas back in the day.
5. 1st Street/Warehouse/Republic (late 90's). These were our main hangout areas to have some drinks. Really miss some of the early specials, my liver could do without!
6. Studio 82 Theatre. It's gone through some changes, I saw a few movies there.
7. Cheap everything. God, everything was so affordable in comparison. I make pretty good money, but it was ridiculous how cheap everything was way back then.
I grew in up Deer Ridge too.
The 2 video stores I knew of were Roger's Video and Video Update. Video update was the best. Tuesday's was toonie Tuesday at Rogers'. During the massive snow storm of 1998, me and my buddy biked through the snow and rented 10 games that day.
On Tuesday's Video update had 2 movies for $0.99. And each video game rental was $0.99. That was easily my favorite store of all time. Rented my first R rated movies, UFC ppvs, WWF ppvs and all my N64 childhood games from that place.
I'm trying to remember where Pro Players was but I can't seem to recall it in that area.
Hearing Rollerland was/is getting demolished makes me sad.
Taking skating classes there on Saturday afternoons was a childhood memory I'll never forget. Something about learning how to shoot the duck and hearing Locomotion with the disco ball spinning reminds me of a simpler time.
Oh, and they had an original slush puppie machine there

I wasn't sure of the exact area. I remember driving by that business as a youngster and being so amazed. I figured it would have been demolished a long time ago.
Lol, got my first "ghetto blaster" there. Still remember the brand too Prosonic. Thing would go through 6 D cells in about 3 hours. I think that place is an Office Depot now, the South one that is.
Office Depot is closed. It's now a Dollarama in that location.

Do any of us under 30's remember the show Kidstreet that was produced in Calgary? I watched every episode as a youngster and wanted so badly to go on when my little brother was of age to do so. Then they cancelled it a few months before we were eligible.

I remember the show. In our school there were a pair of twins that went on the show in 88 or 89, and they were tormented for it beyond belief. They were the Kidstreet Kiddies...be glad it was cancelled.

Lloyd's Rollercade (just as old) is still open. Having my kid's birthday party there this week.

Nooooo! This makes me so sad. I had so many good times there as a scout. Was a great facility, but I can see how in this day and age with all the millionaires building estates on highway 22 that it wouldn't be viable anymore. Sad news.
The Elbow River flooded Camp Gardner 2 years ago, they couldn't raise enough money to repair all the damage.
