Detroit really needs a good 1b Centre option to bolster their lineup. And I think Veleno has been misused.

Veleno might have been misused, but he has yet to show that. McIsaac was just on waivers so I can't imagine he has much value.

Pettersson for Lindholm 1 for 1 would be ideal.

They get a more defensive #1 C like Tocchett wants and we get a more offensive player who can carry a line.

Vancouver by sounds of it want to play a game that was played in the 2000's while we are trying to play a modern game.

Boquist + Johnson is frankly beyond my expectations. That would be magnificent.

I hope it's for Lindholm and not for Pettersson.

That's just fantasy. Pettersson is coming off a 39G, 102P breakout season, he's a RFA. Lindholm is 4 years older, coming off a 22G, 64P down season, he's an UFA.

I don't think that Vancouver would trade Pettersson for Lindholm + Andersson/Weegar + 1st.

Hoping for a 3 way also seems stupid- why wouldn't the middle team just keep Pettersson?

Pettersson being out there could hold down Lindy's trade value significantly though.

A Petterson to calgary deal would at minimum have to mirro the tkachuk trade.

Lindholm + hanifin + 1st + 3rd is the closest we could offer.

I think vancouver would be stupid to take this package for petterson and not go for younger players. The boqvist + Johnson would be a better package for them imo.

Getting boqvist + Johnson for lindholm would be an absolute homerun for this team.

What I believe dissentowners sources are off on was the $9mil Flames offer and the fact that it was being signed imminently. It's off from every other insider and I can't see Lindholm being ready to sign it a deal that big and then suddenly they're not close again.

To be fair I implied I expected it shortly because I believed that $9M would be where they ended up. The source just stated the last offer the Flames put forward was 9MAAV x 8.

Columbus is such a mess right now that I actually wouldn't be surprised if they would do this now. I didn't think that before Babcock got fired but now everything is up in the air again and Jarmo has to be feeling the heat. He may simply not have time to wait for Johnson to figure out the center position and clearly he hasn't yet if they are playing Laine as a C (lol).

At $9M AAV, it is an overpay but not a huge one. At some point, Conroy has to draw a line and move on if this player doesn't want to be here without a significant overpay. Start figuring out the trade market sooner than later and hopefully you can get some pieces that help the team now and in the future.

I put this a page or 2 back but I went with:

Lindholm+Hanifin+Dube for Pettersson+Garland. I think the Flames likely need to add a pick or prospect but it is basically a version of the Tkachuk trade where a RFA aged player is moved for 2 stud UFA aged guys. I thought them dumping Garland and picking up Dube made up for the difference but the Flames likely need to add a 1st or decent prospect. The fact it is a western Canadian rival makes it even less likely to occur.

Andersson or Weegar would be required, no matter how we spin it. Hanifin likely bounces as a UFA, and I bet they’d ask for Andersson++ for Pettersson. I’d love Pettersson on this team but it would absolutely cost a pretty penny to get him, and I don’t think two pending UFAs are gonna do it.

Not a good outcome for the Flames. Having teams feel like the Flames still might have the option to sign him, is better for trade return than if they know re-signing is no longer a card Conroy holds.
