To be fair, I can still easily see Lindholm signing here, it will just be a longer process now and the Flames will likely hold at their $8.6 and Lindholm at $9.3.
What I believe dissentowners sources are off on was the $9mil Flames offer and the fact that it was being signed imminently. It's off from every other insider and I can't see Lindholm being ready to sign it a deal that big and then suddenly they're not close again.

Agreed, and hopefully he's patient as well. As uncomfortable as it is for us fans, and most likely the team as well (for sure the team) to have this uncertainty clouding the season, I just hope he waits until he thinks he can maximize return vs. wanting to get this wrapped up to end it.
I've seen this said a few times, but this isn't a "Flames need to sh## or get off the pot" situation, this is a Flames need to do what's best for them situation. Seems like Conroy is fully on that page, so while I'm disappointed this hasn't been resolved yet, feels like the GM isn't letting himself get bullied by the situation. I guess we'll see.

Feels like the overwhelmingly more likely scenario is Lindholm re-signing in Calgary. It's already a huge risk financially to go into this year without an extension given how last year went and I doubt he would get anything close to what the Flames are offering on the open market anyway.
Now having said that, both Gaudreau and Tkachuk took less money to play elsewhere. But then again Lindholm is a Swede so maybe he doesn't mind playing in a Canadian market

Play October; see how he does and then start shopping him to teams needing center depth. I feel like he’s gonna end up back in Carolina which will be hilarious lol

What about Detroit as a landing spot for Lindholm?
Something around 1st, Veleno, 1 of Wallinder or MacIssac?
Or same trade but sub the 1st out for Kasper?
Detroit really needs a good 1b Centre option to bolster their lineup. And I think Veleno has been misused.

I really hope Lindholm doesn't get traded. Because that will basically sewer the season.

I originally was hoping Lindholm get signed by the start of the season but I'm now in the "wait and see" camp. As in, we need to see that a top six including Lindholm, Huberdeau and Kadri can be in the top half of the league's top sixes. At a minimum. If they can't raise it to that level at this stage in their careers, it will seriously handcuff this franchise for the foreseeable future.

Except Frank Seravali thought there was a better then 50% chance Lindholm would be signed before opening night too. So there must’ve been some smoke.

It definitely wouldn't be ideal or the sexiest package but they could offer a horvat comparable deal.
Debrusk + poitras + 2025 1st for lindholm with 850,000 retention.
Flames get a younger top 6 winger and an nhl ready center prospect with top 6 potential.
I would be whelmed by this offer but I wouldn't say it's an automatic loss.

Agree with wait and see, but I suspect (and hope) that Conroy et al are laser focused on what specifically Lindholm is bringing to the table. If he's the straggler on a team where Huberdeau and Kadri et al are visibly picking up the slack, then you have a nice roadmap for your next steps.

Since we're all speculating I could see a trade of Lindholm to WPG, as a PLD replacement. The return I would expect would probably be around Vilardi + Perfetti +

Can’t see it with Winnipeg recently shelling out 2 8.5m x 7 extensions.

If Lindy goes, I think NYR and CBJ are the likely landing spots.
NYR is impatient. Always have been, always will be. They have interesting pieces that they could move, and ammo in owning their own 1st and 2nd this year, and their 1st next year.
CBJ makes a lot of sense because they need a centre to help insulate and bring along Fantilli. Lindy would fit like a glove. I know they've been doing Laine at C in training camp...but I imagine they'd be into Lindy. Picks, prospects, young NHL'ers - they've got oodles.

Avs GM Chris MacFarland said there is still no timeline for goaltender Pavel Francouz. Out indefinitely.
Francouz + 2nd/very good prospect for Vladar.
Wolf becomes backup to Markstrom and then is either relegated to the minors for a Wranglers run IF Francouz returns, or Francouz just sits on the IR the whole season.

McDavid to New York in free agency makes a lot of sense. I don't think they would want to be in a bidding war for Lindholm.
At this point a deadline trade, or walking him to free agency with hopefully a playoff run is the most likely outcome.
Goodluck to him though in trying to get a 9 plus deal in free agency. Watch him sign with San Jose or something for 8 years at less than 8.

Francouz wouldn't leapfrog Wolf in this case IMO. You take the 2nd/prospect and waive Francouz when he's healthy if you can't move him. Bury what you can. Or yeah, if its that bad he stays LTIR
