In my experience NDP supporters in O&G tend to be pretty quite about it. Senior management is more likely to be Conservative, so not giving managers any reason to treat you differently is a real concern.
But still, how can so many be so dumb? I just can't see how you can look at Smith and say "ya, she represents Conservative values, and will keep spending under control". Even on those most basic principles she's a colossal failure.
Voting ucp probably lets you keep more of your own money. That probably is all a lot of people care about when it comes to voting. Life hasn’t changed for your average O&G worker in the last 5 years.

Got the nice text message from Stephen Harper telling me how wonderful the UCP is and how I can’t trust the job cutting NDP. Guess they forgot to mention how many jobs they killed in the public sector these last 4 years. Hypocrites.

Never ever thought I'd hear my Dad suggest he is open to voting NDP. He's not sold on it, but frustrated enough with Smith he's actually contemplating it

Of course, you just might want to focus on the major issues? Like if I get in a horrific car accident, let’s ignore the sprained ankle and deal with the life threatening injuries first?

...Isn't that what they've been doing for the last 2+ months?
Idk I think dedicating a single twitter post and portion of their platform to "we have other ideas that aren't just not being as dog#### as the UCP" is fine.
There's a reasonable argument that making concessions for religious exemption gives them some headway into other communities as well, which is probably important in the upcoming election.
Well, the writ hasn't been dropped on the election yet, so it's a good time to get smaller ideas out there. And this might have a large appeal to those that spend their traditional holidays working, and have days off that are meaningless to them. Imagine having to work Christmas every year while your family celebrates, but you get January 19th off?

Think about how many things the government has to legislate/maintain on the daily.
I think it's ok for either party to set policy on multiple items, especially around election time.
It's not like they haven't been talking about the big issues already.
Sometimes government's have to discuss policy on things that aren't interesting to some people. This might be of a low priority for you. But might be more important to others.
