For another season after this too. By then Lucic will have been off the Flames for 3 years. Pretty much all Flames fans look back fondly on Lucic's time here. Yet I was constantly told until the day Lucic left that the Oilers won that trade.

Haven't checked out HFO in a couple years. Are they still saying that?

Yep. I lived in the Edmonton area from 2005-13. With the exception of their one flukey Cup Final run, that was basically the entire time they were literally THE WORST, whereas for at least the 00s portion we had good teams.

Team 1260 threw a Happy Flames Elimination Day celebration on the radio every time we got eliminated in the playoffs. We absolutely can revel in their misery right now regardless of our own team's fortunes, that's how this works.

Even better would be to know they threw away an era with 2 of the greatest players in modern hockey with just piss poor management is the cherry on top.
I was legit scared when they got Ekholm last year. Glad I worried about nothing. Holland is not the man to lead the Oilers in rebuild. They need to find the smartest GM available and give him the keys to put his stamp on the team. Oilers have all the pieces to make trades and rebuild as quickly as possible. Ekholm, McDavid and Drais would probaby allow a rebuild to be done in 3 years. Couple that with astute FA signings and taking on some cap for assets, get a true number 1 goalie, shore up the D and rebuild.
That's the most surefire way to do it properly I think.
