The difference is 2nd + Whitecloud vs Minten

Minten is the better "rebuild trade" but the 2nd and Whitecloud are technically more value.

Andersson is a better player than Carlo too, by a fair bit IMO.

A lot of the return of this trade depends on what happens with Whitecloud in the next 14 months (hopefully sooner and they flip him right away)

This is apropos of nothing but ive seen/heard at least two clips where Conroy refers to Whitecloud fighting Knies "the other night" or "a few days ago" but unless my intel is wrong that fight was in March last year? It's interesting to compare this trade to the Lindholm return:

Lindholm - Andersson
1st = 1st
Brzust > 2nd (but if 2nd becomes 1st, flip it)
Kuzy, Jurmo, 4th < Whitecloud, Wiebe

I think this trade compares pretty favourably to the Lindholm trade, TBH

Yes, I do think absolutely everybody understands that he won’t sign with Vegas if they don’t offer him the amount of money he’s asking for…

It’s also not some sort of collusion if he decides to sign after actually spending time working for the organization… that would just be a normal thing.

I don't think it is that much of a sure thing. CC was saying that about 12 hours ago Andersson made the decision he isn't signing an extension with anyone and wants to test FA. If he goes there anything can happen.

So IMO this trade makes us into VGK fans for this season, and I HATE VGK.

If they win the cup this years pick they gave us would be 32nd OA which sucks, but at the same time it would make the 2028 2nd move up 32 spots into the 1st round.

Plus it would mean the oilers didn't win the cup, or even get to the finals.

Value was fine for what the trade ended up being. Everyone gets so antsy and starts bandying up pie in the sky returns and it leads to some unrealistic expectations I think.
