Thought it would be way more. So his actual AAV in today’s dollars is still above $50 million.

The deferrals don’t bother me. That’s really a tax planning issue and other organizations could do it. It’s the actual money that is outrageous.

If the Jays had signed Tucker for 8 years $240MM, would we be fine with it? Same money, just longer term.

I don’t know much about Kyle Tucker but this bothers me for some reason, probably mostly because it feels like Ohtani all over again. The Jays deserve better in my opinion than to be used as a bargaining chip. This is business after all and once again, money talks.

The dodgers are just taking advantage of the flaws of MLB in an exaggerated way. But the issues are the Dodgers, the issue is MLB largely only cares if their major markets are competitive. That's what drives the league and the revenues.

It's hypocritical to be upset about it, because the Jays are certainly one of the have teams.

It must suck to be one of the many have nots.

With all that said, that contract is truly NUTS.

It's really not. The Jays situation is not comparable to the Dodgers situation. Besides, even if it was, it's still not wrong to call the system a joke where championships go to the highest bidder.

Do the Jays benefit from it? Yes. But it's still a bad system. There should be some sort of reasonable checks & balances in place to ensure some level of competitive balance in the sport. It's starting to get to the point where just a few teams are light years ahead of the pack (and the Dodgers light years ahead of that group).

Disappointing, but that contract is absurdly stupid. Something needs to be done to fix this.

We are saying the same things. I perhaps didn't word it well.
The system is broke regardless of whether the Jays are one of the teams that take advantage of it.

Even seeing that Mets offer is absurd.

I cant wait for Tucker to play 130 games next year. Hit .270 with 25hr's. Just like his career slash line.

Were the Jays the bargaining chip in this scenario...feels more like the Mets were.

I think Tucker actually preferred the Jays.

But I think 4 years and $240M is too absurd to say no to, and my guess is Jays were offering a more "normal" contract

Only winner in all of this is Tucker cause that is a really, really bad contract. At his historic performance rate they are going to be paying $10 million for every 1 WAR. That is insane. Their other FA contracts at least made sense and even were solid value (Ohtani is a bargain with the additional revenue he brings in), but this is the first contract the Dodgers have done that has truly felt like a "#### all of you" contract instead of a contract that makes sense.

While I hope a Bichette reunion is still on the table, I worry that ship has sailed. Seems like Phillies are ready to pay and add term.

Still a good offseason just ends on a bitter note.

The betting odds have shifted to basically a pick em on where Bichette lands after the Tucker signing.

Philly is still a slight favourite at -125 but Toronto is now +110.

The Score alert saying Bo’s agent has concerns of him playing on the Jays artificial turf. All these years he didn’t have an issue now he does? Why does it come out now? Anyway, sounds like the Jays are out of that sweepstakes for that to come out at this time.

Yeah that sounds like he's as good as gone. Damage control with the fan base before he ultimately signs else where
