I would hope so.

Actually have some decent young players, need as many picks as possible to keep a steady flow coming for years to come.

Good to know. I assume they felt that Toffoli also needed to be moved due to his trade request.

Plus, they had zero interest in resigning him.

Seems like Francis is the only one who says the Flames are paused because if recent success. Hopefully he isn't Edwards mouthpiece

When we traded Iggy he was pretty much into the last few good years of his career.

Jay Bouwmeester was sewered by Brent Sutter.

I think we make out a lot better this time around. Especially for Lindholm and Hanifin. Its pretty neat that trading the 15th overall pick and a couple of seconds landed us two core pieces that would go on to help us have 2 - 50 win seasons, and lead us into a rebuild. We also ended up with Andersson and Kylington in that draft.

Probably Brad's best work as our GM.

If the team was really going for it and UFA's be damned they wouldn't have moved Toffoli before the season started.

They didn't want 5 guys to deal with and wanted to get one done. That suggests to me they also don't want to take the remaining four into the last day of the deadline.
I didn't love the Toffoli return but can't deny it fit the template for a move that didn't give up on the season and still created some draft capital.

I'm sure the Flames would move any of the 4 if an obscene offer came their way, but I do believe Conroy and ownership would prefer some more games before pulling the trigger.

15 points in their next 10 games puts them on a 92 point pace and they'd be one of the hottest teams in the league. I personally don't believe they'd trade 4 UFA's for picks in that scenario.

For comparison sake, they ahve 12 points in their last 10.

Dhaliwal out of Vancouver made the same comment that the flames were not rushing to trade Tanev or Zadorov because they are winning. I thought that was Vancouver media spin to calm their fanbase who want the team to make a move as they slip a little in terms of wins and losses. Easier to blame the other team for their own lack of legit offers.

This is pretty much what was said by Pascall on Monday at an event, although he used "they (the Flames) are going to do what's best for the Calgary Flames".

It's a comforting thought that they've already made that decision and can't be swayed by a few weeks of good performance. These are organization defining moves.

I didn't think the recent uptick in the standings would affect how they approach the pending free agents. Winning just makes them a little bit less desperate because it keeps the players happy for now.

What could change though is what they get in return. Instead of picks and prospects it could be players or picks to flip for players with more control. Still good but as we see with this team, we have good depth. D is playing well, goalies too, but we are getting nothing from our first line.

If we had a good 1st line, not great just good, this team would be way up the standings fighting for the division.
