This show feels like a love letter to Alberta…albeit with a lot of infected people and death. The show really puts each of Alberta’s geographic landscapes front and centre. It’s pretty neat.

Yeah, it's stunning to me how much the scenery plays it's part in this series. I know there's some that don't want this conversation and I apologize, but I'm blown away by how much Alberta stars in the show.
It really adds something and isn't just a non-descript filming location like most movies/shows. I really hope every film company sees this as well and looks to us in the future.

You would be stupid not to, considering how low the Cdn dollar is.

That was a great episode! Ellie stealing the show again.
I liked how Joel warmed up a bit and they had some fun banter.
That was the first episode where he didn't refer to her as cargo. In fact going way further with Tommy and breaking down, believing he couldn't be there for her and help her survive. It was excellent.
Another scene that played pretty close to the original. I'm not honestly sure if I'd prefer it if they departed more from the way the game was as I find myself comparing them kind of a lot.
Spoiler!
Anyway, as has been covered, that like ep 4 was an episode carried by the cinematography, locations and sets. But the scenes with Joel and Tommy were really good.

You might be right. On second thought it could've been the main drag in canmore. I thought banff, but noticed the buildings in the background were too small
Think I spotted the grizzly paw pub windows in one shot
the mountain fort was in Canmore. We were living there while they were filming. The bridge is the old rail bridge in Canmore. I took some pictures of them putting up the fort gate. The thing was massive.

We came across a tour guide leading a Last Of Us tour in Canmore today.
I hope this pays dividends for the next few years in tourism. I was in Dubrovnik in 2019 and they had Game of Thrones tours all over the place too.
Overall I felt this episode was a bit rushed. Getting through Jackson and the University in an episode that already included a "three months later" card plus a handful of riding montages. Just seems like they're powering through.

It's also enhanced by the incredible quality of cameras and the entire video process and TVs these days. I recall Brokeback Mountain being noted for showing off Alberta's natural beauty but watching it recently, it looks like SD compared to TLOU in 4KHDR on a high-end TV.
