I remember when KevanGuy ate a kajillion cheese burgers. I don't remember why. My memory isn't what it once was. It's possible he was raising money for CP's server hosting.

I liked this thread better when it was talking about Bennett's request to be traded.

Icon28 Red Wings Early Season Trade Targets

Quote:
Making a move for Bennett shouldn’t be completely out of the question for the Red Wings as their forward depth is far from set in stone. While their top-six is mostly filled with players that are in their prime, their bottom-six is almost entirely filled with veteran players that Yzerman could (and should) auction off for future assets as the trade deadline approaches.

As for what Bennett could cost, there are a lot of different angles that Yzerman could take. Is there a veteran on the Red Wings’ roster that Flames GM Brad Treliving likes? If so, can he and Yzerman form a trade around that framework? Is there a Red Wings prospect that Stevie Y has soured on that could entice Calgary? Given that the Flames have legitimate playoff aspirations, they would likely want something that can help them right now or in the near future.

I didn’t see any mention of it: Friedman’s 31 thoughts includes a mention about Bennett given the option by Ward of starting the season at Center, but eventually opting for the wing instead: https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/31-thou...cause-concern/

Quote:
Hours before that game, coach Geoff Ward detailed his conversations with the player.

“At the beginning of the season, and what a lot of people don’t know, I basically gave Sam the choice of where he wanted to play. He wanted to start at centre and so we started him at centre, and he came in after a couple of games and said, ‘Hey, I think I may want to take the other option,’ which was playing on the wing. We gave him a choice to play in two different positions at the start of the year. So before anybody jumps all over that as to reasons why he may be unhappy, let’s just quell that right now.”

Only name that stands out roster wise (which would be attainable) is Glendenning. Would be a solid addition to bottom 6, wears a letter for them too. Ufa so would hope we could get a prospect or pick out of the deal as well, hopefully something expansion exempt.

I would be pretty choked if we traded Bennett for a 31 year old bottom 6er.

Detroit has some interesting prospects like Joe Veleno, and Michael Rasmussen,as well as some good, young roster players like Hirose, Zadina, Beruzzi, and Mantha-but we're not getting any of them for Bennett. I don't think they are good trading partners right now.

I'll take the pube sandwich bet, and I'll even lower the bar to 30 points.

It's a win-win, and boy you should (will?) see the forest quarantine has let me grow.

Are people aware that the season is shortened? I love Benny, but he's not getting 40 pts in 56 games. It would be a win if he got 20 pts....lol

That quote was very telling. Anyone who suggests the team is not bending over backwards for this guy is not listening to what the team is saying.

you guys need to agree on a pube minimum.
if there is only 4 or 5 sprinkled on top, that would be welching.

Maple Leafs interested in Bennett?

The Anaheim Ducks, Carolina Hurricanes and Minnesota Wild are also perusing the trade market for a forward and could be among the teams also interested in Bennett.

With limited cap space themselves, the Flames would be unlikely to retain any of Bennett’s salary or add a player with a higher cap figure.

The Flames were believed to have express interest in Leafs defenceman Travis Dermott in the off-season. Dermott, though a left shot, plays both the right and left side of the blueline; his cap hit, however, is just $874,125.

Travis Dermott was pretty highly touted coming out of junior-he was supposed to be like a poor man's Morgan Reilly. He's been kinda buried on Toronto's blueline, but that's obviously more his fault than a statement about the Leafs' depth.

I would still be intrigued, but where do we put him?

As much as I am a fan of Backs-YES PLEASE.

EDIT:Our C depth takes a bad hit in this scenario, may have to look at someone else besides Backlund....

Toronto hangs up laughing if BT proposes that trade.

This looks like a significantly weaker roster to me...
