I took a brief look at the match stats in the loss to Svitolina last week and Genie had 8 double faults in two sets of tennis. You can't be giving away free points on a serve that isn't all that great to begin with.

6-1, 6-0 loss I wanna say is the worst result of her career so far. Oh well, at least all anyone in tennis cares about right now is Serena cheating on her coach with Drake. US Open drama just hit the stratosphere.

Don't the majors basically operate independent of the ATF as it is?

probation won't last long, he'll get fined at the US Open.
The other players know it too and will provoke it.

Girly, I think the New York crowd will also be provoking Kyrgios...He starts talking back and they'll give it back to him tenfold.

That presumes anyone in ESPN is even aware of non-American players. Personally, I think that is optimistic.

So Genie probably didn't even care about her match today because she had to get to New York to be in Nike's #Stealtheshow event along with actual legends (and Kyrgios and Dimitrov and Keys because...Nike). Obviously doesn't look good on a day she got destroyed. Just reinforces what people think, that tennis is a secondary consideration.

lol Genie has probably accumulated more 1st and 2nd round losses this year than some of those players did their whole careers.

Vasek really wishes he could have stayed ranked for this major. Instead it's at best to round 2 as he draws Djokovic then. Milos gets the best draw possible for the top 8 seeds getting Nadal's section...but Nadal is looking primed to go out in round 1 with a match against Coric. Genie gets as good a draw as can be to get to round 2 anyways, she gets one of the few players she's beaten this year in Alison Riske.

Oh and Kyrgios and Murray in round 1. That screams Ashe primetime and what a drama fest that could be.
Edit: Also of note, Genie has been spotted with a legend helping (coaching?) her...Jimmy Connors. Colour me intrigued.

Genie is like Michael Sam, focused on the distractions. Endorsements, hype, expectations... then nothing but failure.
At least Genie actually played professional tennis though.

Murray is pretty leave headed. I wish it were Krygios against Monfils!

Day one. For the Canadians, given injuries etc., my expectations are pretty low.
Does Serena get the calendar Slam? Prolly.

I have to say ESPN surely rigged this draw for Serena right? Not because it's easy, but because she's lined up to play "the next American" in Sloane in round 3, the "the next American" in Keys or the sister Venus in round 4, and "the next big thing overall" in Bencic in the quarters. Get Serena in primetime each time with a potential next star. If Genie were still relevant I'm sure she'd be in there somewhere too.
Genie and Kyrgios lol. Well what can you say? Might be the only competition she'll get past the first round this week (she's also in women's doubles). I'm mostly curious how much complaining we get with the new shadows from the roof frame that is up on Ashe. Looks great from the outside though.
