The Arby's by SAIT is closed. Anyone know if it is just renovations? Or is it becoming that rumored Carls Jr?

Tried Boardwalk Burgers in Crowfoot. I would be surprised if they last a year before closing as it was empty. Very average food at a premium price and not good enough compared to their competition.

Going to Toronto in a few days...will check this place out.
What sold me:

THE HOLY CHUCK (OUR SIGNATURE)
DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER WITH BACON & CARAMELIZED ONIONS
PLEASE DON’T PUT ANY TOPPINGS!!

Nothing worse than unnecessary vegetables on a burger. I especially hate the whole LTO thing being a standard...iceburg lettuce and thick cut yet flavourless tomatoes that do nothing but cause the burger to be too thick and slide around.

Tried Clive Burgers for the first time, down on 17th. Regular Clive burger (decent size) with an egg on it, plus a vanilla banana shake with a shot of Kentucky bourbon, ran about $17 including tip. The only place that I would put ahead of it would be Boogies and Marv's Diner in Black Diamond (one of the only places that still serves malts). 5 Guys would be behind those three, as a comparison of quality. Will go out and look for Naina's next, thanks for posting the recommendation.

Went there yesterday... It's good. Best part was I was able to get my burger medium rare.

I am really liking smash burger these days. I have been to the one in Mckenzie townie several times now.
Really like those spiced fries.

Long time follower, and first time poster on this thread. I recently went to Au Cheval in Chicago as I noted their burger was voted best in North America by The Food Network. It did not disappoint. I would highly recommend a visit to anyone going to Chicago. Be prepared for a 2-3 hour wait though. They take your cell number and text you when your table is ready so it isn't that bad. You can wonder around.

Man... I used to live a couple blocks away from there and there are so many non-burger places even that make a better burger than Clive. Briggs, Vintage, and Notable are three obvious examples. Charcut, too. It's not even in the same league as Naina's.
My "bar that must be cleared" for a burger place is, if I got some market trim, fired up the grill and made a burger myself, could I do a better job than this place without much effort? Clive doesn't clear that bar.
If anyone knows where Jason Chen formerly of Lava Dining ended up going, let me know, because their burger was the best one in Calgary, hands down, in terms of a traditional "bun+beef+cheese+groceries" offering. It was perfect.

Finally went to Naina's. Had the Bacon Mac n Cheese stuffed burger and it had really nice flavour as their Mac n Cheese must be really good as it gives the burger a very cheesy flavour. Poutine was also pretty decent. Will eat there again.

Yeah of the recent new entrants to Calgary, Boardwalk is the worst. Pretty sure that's a frozen patty they are using. Not even a good burger if the prices were reasonable - which they are not.
I'm in London for the weekend, and generally burgers over here aren't that great. But tonight I went to Jamie Olivers Take-out in Piccadilly. Fantastic.
Nothing unusual - just a great bun, non-frozen patty and fresh ingredients. But he managed to hit just the right amount of all flavors in the burger.
Really good. Amongst the best I've had.
For those that travel to U.S. also try Shake Shack. Amazing.

It seems like you may prefer the bigger burgers - based on that list you provided. I think 1/2 pound of beef is too much - I like burgers not just for the beef but for the other flavors/textures.
Clives isn't as good as when they first opened (cheapening out the ingredients perhaps) but I appreciate that the burger is a reasonable size.

Went to Nainas on Friday after knocking off early for the long weekend...and good lord was it ever good.
Everything is fresh, cooked with attention and full of flavors.
Just awesome.

I think that what qualifies as a 'burger joint' for me is whether I can go in, buy a burger, and walk out. A full restaurant has a much higher likelihood of a great burger, but I'm not expecting a true 'chef'.
The buffalo trace bourbon in the shake may have tilted the review in favour of clives, or perhaps I caught them on a good day.

If you are still there, Bread Street Kitchen by St Paul's has a crazy good burger too.

My wife spoke with one of the employees and was told it was turning into a Carls Jr. We love Carls Jr in the US and even though the Canada version will inevitably not be as good, we're looking forward to it.
