As a sharks fan on the side, this franchise is a disaster. Can't even start the rebuild until they start ditching relics with no value because it's one of the oldest teams in the league. I don't get Grier's plan here if this is true. He signs Hertl somehow but ditching Timo and EK? I don't even know the goalies outside of Reimer. The local beat writers try to hype up the farm team, but it's really a bunch of Tim Ramholts and Ryan Howse's. What a fall from grace.

I think Coronato is going to be the exact player that Huberdeau loves to play with. Fast, hard shot, quick release, can shoot from anywhere, drives the net, great on the forecheck, relentless motor. Coronato is more similar to Bennett and Duclair in terms of play style than any other player on our team.

Karlsson is a terrible hockey player, albeit with elite offensive skills.

His points are high because he's allowed to roam around the ice without regard to defence. If he ever improved his defensive play, his offence would look more ordinary.

I assume the plan was to help them lose games and make Karlsson look like a good hockey player so they dump him.

Now that he's looking productive, if SJ could trade him for nothing other than salary relief they should jump on it. It may be their last chance.

Karlsson would be a perfect Oiler. He would be like a Tyson Barrie but at double the cost and require them to give up draft picks. 18 million dollars of giveaway prone defenceman with high point totals...sign me up.

There is a reason why the Flames got a good prospect and a first round pick too.

But looking at Meier more closely, he's a bit older than Tkachuk was, and while his production has been very good, but not at Tkachuk's level.

So his trade value would be less, but still quite high. It would likely equate to a first round pick an excellent prospect and some more. Calgary doesn't have the cap space to fit him in next year, so I doubt he a realistic target.

With his qualifying offer they will get rental prices...a late first and a prospect. Nowhere near Tkachuk value IMO

Agree. He's exactly the opposite of what they need, so they will covet him.

You are right. I didn't mean it was Grier....it was Will....but i mean the direction of the team as a whole. I'm not sure what the owner wants.

I would love to eat crow on this, but I think that Huberdeau contract is going to sink this team for almost a decade, either by being stuck with it or having to overpay to get someone to take it.

And if neither of those top 2 free agents came here? Doesn't seem like much of a plan

It's all the talk here. I live in Victoria. In the last few days Hugh's made comments on the team screwing up medical work for Pearson. And the agent for petterson wouldn't refute that petterson wants out on 650 today

I just never understood that extension. It has sounded like there has been problems in the dressing room there for years - and they just decided to revel in it? Odd choices for that org.
