Well the Chiefs have struggled against little know QB's that they don't have a book on. Especially guys who have some mobility. Derek Anderson, Quinn whoever he is for Jacksonville, and Seneca Wallace racked up yards against the Chiefs. But pocket passers who the Chiefs had a book on were generally kept in check. Also a few years back Herm came up with a pretty good game plan to kill the Colts, mind you the weather helped him out a bit. Manning is the best there is and his receivers are top notch so this should be interesting. If the Chiefs can keep them out of the end zone early and get their running game going and get a coulple big plays on special teams than they have a shot. If they don't get that, it's another 45-10 Indy win agains a Wild Card team.
I hate the Colts, hate Irsay, and hate them for beating the Chiefs at home in 2 of the Chiefs last 3 playoff games. I'd hate Manning and Harrison too, but they're so damn good you have to respect their ability. KC owes them some big time pay back. But I don't see it coming this year. Than again I figured the Chiefs to go 3-13 after week two, hopefully I'm wrong again.

I don't blame you at all for Hating Isray. That Chiefs/Colts game last time was an amazing one, hopefully this one is just as good.
The reason I went off on everyone thinking KC has this game won is just the media has basically all but guaranteed a win for the Cheifs. The only reason they give is of course Johnson Vs The Colts run defense. Indy is undefeated at home this year too boot yet I bet we don't get a spread over 4.5 points. I do enjoy this situation however because everyone in the media has given up on Indy this year.
The big thing is going to be who gets up first. If Indy gets a few touchdowns up on KC and makes KC go more aerial, then Mathis and Freeny will have a field day against Green. If KC gets the lead, they have the ability to keep Manning off the field.

This game is definately not a cake walk for the Chiefs. It will take their best effort and that might not be good enough. They can not afford to turn the ball over. If they get down early, LJ and the running game goes out the window and a shakey Trent Green needs to lead the team through the air. This isn't the same Trent Green that lead the Chiefs from behind in the fourth quarter in Green Bay in 2003. So the chances of that happening are not good. If the Chiefs can control the tempo of this game they have a chance.

Yeah, KC is going to have to take care of the football in this one and force a turnover, or get a big play on special teams to win this one.
Bashing the Colts is in vogue right now, but they are at home and many didn't think they'd beat the Bengals there 3 weeks ago as the Bengals were hot at the time. Manning came out and threw a perfect game. He'll have ideal conditions at home and the Colts O-line is a solid group. Any QB in the NFL can complete passes if given time. Peyton Manning will destroy you if he has time.
But Herm's a pretty good motivator and the Chiefs have displayed a pretty consistant running game for several weeks now. My biggest concern is Trent Green as he doesn't look anything like he did even a year ago. Take away the Cleveland game and he's got 2 TD's and 7 picks in 7 starts. On the contrary Huard had 11 TD's and 1 pick in his 8 starts and two other games where he saw action. Two of the games the Chiefs lost with Huard were close games they could have won too. I wish they'd just use him as I think he throws a better ball right now and makes better descisions than Green. But that might just be me.

Herm said he told the team after week 2 when they were 0-2. That there were 11 teams with the same 0-2 record. One of these teams was going to make the playoffs. Why coudn't it be the Chiefs. I think Herm is great at motivating the players. He has been in their shoe's and knows what it is like to play in the NFL.
Huard did play better this season than Green. But Green has proven himself over the last couple of years. He took one hell of a blow to the head and I think it would take any player, especially a QB, time to get back in the grove. Maybe he'll rise to the occasion. Herm was hinting in the Star today that he may play Huard if Green can't get his rythem going. I just hope the team does the right thing and puts in the QB that gives them the best chance at winning on the field. Its easy to pick Huard. But the coaching staff is with these guys every day. I would hope that they can tell who the best QB is at this point in time.

Well based on who could play the best game, it's probably Trent Green. He hasn't shown it this year, but the previous 4 seasons he was consistantly one of the AFC's top 5 QB's. But he's also high risk too, always has been.
But lets face it you're not likley to grind out a 13-7 win against the Colts in Indy, especially if you're the Chiefs. They'll need to throw the ball downfield just to keep Indy honest and not stack 9 guys in the box all day long. Trent Green from the second half of last year could do it quite easily. His last two games he's played against the Colts he's lit them up pretty good. But he doesn't look like the same guy at all right now. He's missing some easy throws and making descisions like he did the first year he started for the Chiefs. Mind you the more I think about it, Huard gives the team a better chance to stay in the game and lose 27-24. Green probably gives them a better chance to win 35-31 which is what they'll likely have to do.
I just hope he's got it on Saturday because if he's lobbing up interceptions, this one will be over early.

One turnover in that 2004 playoff game was the difference (Priest Holmes fumble after he'd practiacally played all year without one). KC needs to win the turnover battle to win this game.
Something to note about Johnson with 416 carries or whatever it was and another 40 receptions he only had two fumbles all year. I think both of them were early in the season too. Pretty nice turn around for a guy who had trouble holding the ball in previous years.
Of course I also read an alarming artical about number of carries and how it affects running backs. Guys like Jamal Anderson, Terrel Davis, Eddie George never were the same after years where they had 390 touches or more. I'd dismiss it due to age as Johnson is still young and for all intensive purposes is a second year player, but Davis was pretty young when the injuries caught up to him. I hope LJ doesn't go down that path, he is far and away the Chiefs MVP.

I meant Trent Green's 3 turnovers on Sunday against the Jags. Yeah Priest Holmes fumble didn't help in that game. The phantom offensive pass interferance call on TG on his TD catch didn't help either.

Sorry just saw this, I had a few pops that night and forgot that he was injured, I still stand by the fact that GB is in quiksand until they have a ceremony for #4. BB is destined for a best case of 9-7 until they turn the page on Favre. I like Brett, I liked the SB days for him and when he was headbutting Warren Sapp after sacks, but GB and Brett need to know when to say when.

Sounds like a busy week for Damon Huard. In 2004 when he was with New England. He did such a good job of impersonating Peyton Manning on the scout team, that Billichick gave him the game ball after the Pats beat the Colts. Huard is busy doing the same thing this week with the Chiefs. He is also taking all the first team reps since Green is resting his sore ankle.

I've heard rumblings around the league that Huard runs a damn fine scout team. Even if you don't use him as a starter, he's a great backup for that very reason.

Wow, you Chief fans must be ****ed, that was the most pathetic half of offence i've seen in a long time. The defence is playing unbelieveable though, if the offensive coordinator could grow a set and call an aggressive play or two they might actually attempt to win the game.

Well, the defence has done what it could have to give the Chiefs a chance. Poor play calling, and poor offensive execution have lost the game for the Chiefs. The defence did everything they could have asked for and the offence didn't support it. I wouldn't blame the defence one bit for rolling over dead now. They have to be deflated.
Trent Green is finished. But it's not fair to put it all on him, that whole offence stinks today. Too bad the defence showed up.

Not a great efforting by Manning at all but the defense played well. All that matters is that it was a 23-8 win for the boys!!
Next up @ Baltimore next week. Manning and the offense will have to be much better next week otherwise that will be it. 3 more wins to go!
GO COLTS!!!!!!!!!!

So far Hassleback looks like garbage the first half
One big play, other then that, one INT on a pass that my wife could throw better left handed, and should've been at least 2 more INT's.
Completely ineffective and looking like the uninspired QB from 3 years ago, and, made appearances this year.
Thankfully, he's always gotten chewed out by Holmgren at the break and looks like a different guy after halftime.
Since Dallas is looking pretty pathetic on offense themselves, with the Seahawks secondary holding, Hassleback won't have to do too much (which means he plays like crap) in havinbg to overcome a defecit.
Edit: Seahawks down 10-6 at half...Hassleback with a 28 rating. Pathetic for a home game for a guy that should be considered in his prime, and has been in the playoffs before.

Hasselback with a nice throw and Stevens with a catch. Rare events this year that reslut in a Seattle TD.

Well I should say that the Colts defence played a real good game too. They came out and absolutely stuffed the run until the Chiefs had no choice but to pass. When the Chiefs tried to pass they gave Green no time and he lobbed up INT's. Every play was either a sack or INT in the last three times the Chiefs had the ball. That pass rush was deadly. Again it's not all Trent Green as his line was owned badly today. I feel bad for the Chiefs defence as they really did put up a decent effort, and gave them some good chances early on. Really if the Chiefs offence had been worth anything in the first half the Chiefs could have escaped it up 7-6.
