It's not a good thing when the team that beats you in 5 gets their ass kicked in the next round. If you identify as just a pure Oilers hater then I guess you're feeling good but if you're a Flames fan, like I am first and foremost, it's not great.

Anyways, you guys have your fun!
You're way too serious.

Wtf. You mean you lost every game but other than that, you were headed to the cup.

So the reporter doesn’t know what ‘empty net goals’ are

Unless he’s being super clever and trying to remark on goals where Smith took himself out of the play. But in this case, that was even below his usual. They just got their asses kicked

Keep in mind the Flames got spanked in 5 by the Oilers and Avs while winning the Pacific both times.

One could say that Dallas in the bubble was an abhoration, but if the Flames could score it may have been a different story.

The game is tilting to offense, you can't lock it down anymore. A team has to be able to play at both ends of the ice.

that is amazing- I just tried to run the quick numbers- Reinhart may also have been 49? (although as you know I guess he wasn't a defenceman in every game). I may have miscalculated by a game or so anyways

Orr probably deserves an asterisk based on how many teams made the playoffs.

Even funnier when you realize they won the same amount of games as the Flames in round 3, and the Flames will have a new banner in their rink next year while Edmonton will not.

What is it the kids are saying these days? Cope?

asterisk in which direction? I guess you are right in that he came on in the first expansion wave- but mostly his playoff games (through 50 points anyways) were against the 'original 6' teams- so not the whipping boys (with the exception of the Blues in the 1970 finals)

That's kinda the point. He had a 50% chance of making the playoffs until 1975.

I don't mean to say he wasn't one of the all time greats, but a statistic like that needs to be put into context.

But they are only counting playoff games. Not seasons.

What's your point?

Orr had way more opportunity to play in the playoffs in his prime.

Generational statistics that ignore era are not relevant.

Oilers fan till for life?

Is this something they all proclaim when they join the McBandwagon?

"I've been baptized in the communal sink, everybody. Oilers fan till for life!" *pounds chest*

Hey, man. Read the room.

Either start ####ing on the Oilers, or call it a night. Whatever this is, it ain't jiving with what we've got going on here.
