Maybe the actual GM stuff, like trades, signings, assignments etc.??
I haven't played the mode, but it seems that it's completely disconnected from reality.

I get offered trades a lot during the season... you need to put players on the trading block for it to happen more often (preferrably players that other teams are interested in)... and if you want to sign someone during the season, don't sim through the whole season...
You can still sim the games parts at a time, just don't do it all at once.... seems fairly obvious to me. /shrug.

That's not the point, the point is that the actual GM role is garbage. The trade logic is flawed, the free agent logic is flawed, the draft logic is flawed etc. IT's not an issue of simming the games, it's an issue of being able to do the things a GM would do with at least some connection to reality or a challenge. I mean look at the rosters people have assembled?

making the be a gm more realistic would actually remove enjoyment from it not add too it imo... there'd be less trades, less movement of players by other teams resulting in less waiver action, etc etc.
but i suppose to each their own.
i actually thought there were some good improvements with Be a GM this go around. Specifically like the addition of the RFA / offer sheet / qualifying offer component (this may have been added in NHL11, I didn't play that one, but regarless its a big step over NHL10).

You can make it more realistic without making less action. You shouldn't be able to package together a couple mid range players and a pick to land Stamkos, that's just idiotic. Elite free agents shouldn't be sitting unsigned forever. There are just tons of things that make it impossible to actually enjoy the GM elements of the game. EHM has an incredibly realistic GM experience and it hasn't taken away from the enjoyment whatsoever, in fact that's what makes it awesome.

Anyone else remember the EA sports NFL Head Coaching game, they made that so real that you spent most of the game in meetings.

so i have been having problems the last few days loading my gm saves. it will get to 100% and just sit there. i will usually wait a few minutes before quitting the games. it mostly happens with the actual save files i created and i am able to use the auto saves to get it started. i like to have both as i will experiment with trades to maximise value. so i would hate to have to rely on autosaves only. anyone had any problems with loading save files or heard anything about it?

Had the same problem. Although I couldn't get the autosaves to work either. Signed off from the PSN and I was able to load up my save file no problem.

Yeah, I got the Oiler's two cups in a row, and won the CS both times.
Once you get a 99 slap shot, with 99 accuracy, and 99 speed and get everything else to 80 or 90 you just dominate no matter what level, especially if you're playing the Bllue Line.
I'm in the last year of my contract, I fully intend to show up for the contract negotiations drunk out of my mind, I'm going to stand up, turn my back to Lowe and Tambellini and tell them to kiss my 2 time Conn Smyth, 2 x 2 x 2x Norris Trophy winning, Limousine riding, Jet Flying Cup Winning a$$ as it walks out the door, then I'm gonna hit Taylor hall with a black jack, pee in the Gatorade container, kick the doors off of their rails in the dressing room and take my considerable talents 3 hours south to the Calgary Flames.

Dreams shattered, Calgary seemingly uninterested in the best player in the league, refuses to even entertain offering you a deal.
"Maybe if you pay us." GM Craig Button is quoted as saying.

I've not made it far enough yet, does it actually let you choose/negotiate your next contract nicely? Wouldn't you be an RFA at the end of your 3 year ELC? I definitely want the hell off the oilers ASAP.

I don't know in last years be a pro, while I saw other players being qualified, my be a pro had contract offers at the end of my three years.
Of course this year I've in effect spent four years in that dreadful organization because I got sent back to the Htmen.

Play like hot garbage and get shipped to the farm team, I think you can be picked up on waivers.

this is going to show the super nerdy OCD side of me, but i actually have a spreadsheet of anyone that starts out with a B or better potential. what i did is measure the length of the value bar. the numbers themselves are arbitrary (they represent the length of the bar in millimeters on my 60" screen), but it can give you an idea of how they stack up against each other. personally, i think RNH is a steal because even though he only has B potential, he starts out at 77 and has a relatively low value. the list is formatted poorly but its sorted by value from large to small.
to directly answer your question, RNH didn't take much for me. i traded a slightly decent prospect, a crap prospect (had to clear a contract) a 2nd, and 2 6ths. i felt like it was a pretty awesome swap. didn't have to give up a first if i didn't want to. and the guy i gave up was nowhere near as good as RNH. larsson i had a bit more trouble with. perhaps it was just because i didn't want to give up a roster player that was any good. i gave up a scrub dman and a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. lots of draft pics for him. but he is one of only 3 skaters with a potential of a-. like i said though, if i had a better player perhaps the picks wouldnt have been so steep. a real easy one is landeskog. i gave up a crap minor leaguer and 2 2nds for him. didn't feel like that was much at all for a 75 with good potential.

I just bought NHL12 for the 360 used and I'm trying to find out how to buy an online pass. The EA site says to buy it through the console but I see no option for it. The EA online pass site only showcases the 2011 series as well.

For 360, go to Game Marketplace, sort by Alphabetical order, find NHL 12, go to all add-ons for NHL 12 and it should be in there.
