For what it's worth, there is grass out there that doesn't get much longer than that. It's all over the West Coast, not sure about where else.

I'm more confused as to why the walkers eat some people and just bite others.

Great episode last night. I thought it was odd how the writers tried to show a emotional side of blasting away at the farmers kept secret.
I get that they were his family etc.

Just keep blasting they are zombies. Turns out all this time the little girl had turned zombie a captive.

Next episode trailer looks even better.

I always just assumed it was because people fought to get away when they get attacked, and that would explain the ones who only have 1 or 2 bites.

Sophia's neck looked bloody and her ankle was all twisted. She may have just fallen and died of natural causes (maybe where Darryl fell), then turned instead of getting eaten. In that case Otis probably just found her in the zombie trap and put her in the barn with the rest.

Definitely a very good last episode to finish out the fall season, good to see they wrapped up 1 story but still left an opening to a whole new conflict.

A few of us at work here were talking about that last scene and we all agreed that the reason Rick stepped up and ended the zombie life of Sophia was not only because it was his fault, but to also show Hershal that they treat all walkers as a threat, even if they are/were family of their group as well.

This also makes good sense.

That means poor little Sophia didn't last too long.
We also saw that Otis's wife was the one who fed them the chickens (if I remember right) so there was more than just Otis that had exposure to the barn..

But I imagine your explanation will be the one to take if they just want to move past it conflict free. And from the preview I didn't see anything based on an argument involving the farmers knowing about Sofia.

I somehow missed it, but my buddy said during the preview that he saw an argument between Shane and Hershel, where Shane was blaming Hershel for Sophia's death. So it seems like there's still some conflict to come.

I disagree. I think it'll be clear sailing from here on out.

Awesome episode last night.

You could see Shane getting more and more crazy as the episode went along. And I definitely didn't see that coming with Sophia at the end. I also though Rick had to kill her because he was the one who screwed up by letting her go in the first place.

Can't wait for it to continue in Feb.

I should mention that I thought Dale was as good as dead. Shane was going to roll him like an English pastry.

Excellent mid-season finale, loved it. Totally did not expect Sophia to come out.

In the previews of the next episode in February Shane is going ballistic on Herschel for not telling them she was in there. But Herschel didn't know she was there because Otis is the one who roped them and put them in the barn. Shane doesn't like his answer and goes to grab him and Maggie bitch slaps Shane.

On the talking dead the creator also explained that Otis was putting them in the barn and was killed before there was any talk of the missing girl. I am sure Otis' wife doesn't do a zombie head count but just dumps the food and gets out. Not to mention it's very dark in there...

Also, looks like Herschel used to an alcoholic and starts hitting the bottle again.

In another preview on the Talking Dead. Dale tells Lori that he thinks Shane shot Otis and left him for zombie bate.

I also thought Shane was gonna kill Dale in the swamp...but that one would probably be a little harder to explain away.

i was this close to giving up on this show. this season has moved so bloody slow and had so little reward that i actually deleted the series from my PVR, but then decided to record the last episode before their 2 month break as a last chance. and damn if they don't almost make everything up to now worth it, that was one of the best endings to any single episode of a show that i can remember in quite some time

now i'm just pissed that i have to wait so long to see what happens next

I'm not a fan of ragging on plot lines, and I think that shows in what I post about shows, but the whole idea that Dale 'figured out' that Shane shot Otis is ridiculous to me.

Just about the only thing this season that has been a disappointment, albeit a small one.

Agreed. There hasn't been much evidence Otis has to build on to come to that conclusion.

I'm so glad the Sophia storyline is over. I guess it was worth it for that one scene. I was also cheering when Shane went to release the hounds. Shooting time!

I'm not sold on this idea just yet. I have a feeling that flask he was looking at was a gift from one of the zombies he had in the barn. The way Herschel was looking while they were killing the zombies from the barn I would say it's finally sunk in that his family members are dead and never coming back.

I'm thinking it will be one of the opening scenes this next go around, and not long after he will tell the group to leave his farm.
